Summer is definitely in the air now and we are all loving the warmer weather and can’t wait for half term to come with the promise of a few beach days when we go to South Wales. Norfolk based company Gone Crabbing are all about the beach and their gorgeous range of products are all seaside inspired gifts. All with big, bold prints and lovely designs, you can find anything from T-shirts and hoodies for little people through to big people, things for the kitchen and something for the stationery addicts. There are beach towels and tea towels, iPhone cases and soap. If you were looking for an unusual gift or simply for a treat for yourself, I really recommend Gone Crabbing. You won’t be disappointed.
I particularly liked this ‘Totally Clawsome’ Windbreak which would make a brilliant addition to our beach equipment and would certainly make you stand out from the crowd as well as protect you from the British seaside winds.
We were sent a really lovely beach towel to review and I was very impressed with the quality and design of the towel and at £19.99 this would make a lovely present too. A and I are off on the annual play group trip to Weston Super Mare next week and we have been getting everything ready and this towel will definitely be coming with us .. although don’t worry as I won’t be skinny dipping.
When I opened the package, there was an amazing smell which turned out to be a bar of beautifully wrapped Jasmine soap. Such a treat as the smell and the packaging are gorgeous. Gone Crabbing have a range of soaps which are all made in a small English soapery and they all have amazing names to match their wrappings. At £4.99 these soaps would make a great present although I won’t be parting with mine as it looks and smells too nice.
We love Disney princesses every month in this house as A is completely obsessed with them all. Sleeping Beauty however is one story that we know but we have never watched the film. Having seen a preview of Disney’s new film Maleficent at the cinema recently, I had explained to A that she was the villainous witch from Sleeping Beauty and A was quite keen to watch the original film.
Disney are releasing Sleeping Beauty on 2nd June and we were allowed to borrow a copy of the film for a sneak preview before the film’s release next month. The story is of course well-known; Princess Aurora is born, the precious daughter of King Stefan and his wife. To celebrate the arrival of the Princess, three good fairies – Flora, Fauna & Merryweather bestow gifts of magic on Aurora, but the evil sorceress named Maleficent places a curse upon the little Princess – that she will die on her 16th birthday after touching the poisoned spindle of a spinning wheel. Merryweather tries to undo the damage by casting a spell that will allow the Princess to awake from an ageless sleep with a kiss from her one true love.
It is a beautiful story of good overcoming evil and A was transfixed. It is hard to believe that the film was originally released in 1959. If you are or have children that are fans of the classic Disney films, then you will want to add Sleeping Beauty to your collection. It will be available on Disney DVD, Blu-ray and Digital Download on 2nd June.

I am a lover of gadgets and one thing I often forget when I go out anywhere is my charger for my iPad, so I was quite intrigued by the new Nomad Chargekey. This is a really cool little device. It is the size of a key and in fact comes with a loop so that you can attach it to your keys and it is a mobile charging cable. You do need a device with a USB port, but you plug the USB end into an available port, the other end into your iPhone or Ipad and it will charge.
I am quite impressed with the Chargekey, it is useful to keep it on my keyring so that I know it will always be in my bag when I’m out and about. What I also liked is that I have a portable phone charger for my iPhone 4s and I can also use that along with this charger to charge my iPad.
It is compatible with the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini and you can also get a Micro USB Android cable which is compatible with a range of other phones and devices. At the time of writing this review, the Nomad Chargekey is priced at around £20 and is available from Amazon.
I was lucky enough recently to have been invited for a spa day at the Aqua Sana Spa at Centre Parcs Longleat Forest. It was my first ever spa experience and I loved every minute of it, especially the mini Elemis facial which left my face feeling so soft and amazing for days. Generally, because I tend to suffer with dry skin, I am really happy with the products that I use every day, but I did treat myself to the Elemis Exotic Cream Moisturising Mask. This product is fantastic. It has been a few years since I bothered with face packs or masks but I have made time for a couple of these and my skin feels brilliant after; much softer. It is a light cream, easily dispensed and you put it on to your skin for 8 – 10 minutes and wash off with warm water and it washes off really easily.
You can also leave it on over night for an extra boost of moisture. I have been really impressed with this mask and would certainly recommend it. It costs around £28 which isn’t cheap but it is a 50ml container and I envisage it lasting me for a few months as you only need a small amount at a time.
We were sent a beach towel and soap from Gone Crabbing and the Nomad Chargekey for the purpose of this review. We were loaned a copy of the Sleeping Beauty DVD. All opinions and images are our own and prices quoted are correct at the time of publishing this post.
