The random ramblings of a four year old

Over the course of the last couple of weeks, A has become very random with her rambling conversations.  The Irish accent seems to have gone which was a relief, but sadly it has been replaced with a very annoying American accent.  I have asked a number of times for her talk normally and the response I get is that she is “NOT talking to me”, said with hands firmly on hips.  In fact, along with the rambling, A has become decidedly feisty recently too.  I was even told last week to; “Stop talking, you nag!!” I probably don’t have to tell you how I reacted to that one?  So these are just a few fragments of our bizarre conversations.

A: “I can’t walk today?”

Me: “Why not?”

A: “My legs are all dongly.”

A: “My legs are broken – see (shakes legs around) they don’t work!”

A: “I am not eating vegetables ever!”

Me (with a sigh): “But vegetables are really good for you and will make you grow up big and strong.”

A: (flexing her non-existent arm muscles) “Look I am strong, I have muddles!”

Me:”I think you mean muscles.”

A: “Yes, see I have muscles from eating chocolate and I am very tall too, so I don’t need those silly vegetables.”The

When A goes to bed, I lie with her and have to admit that I often sit with my iPad and take the opportunity to catch up with some emails once she has had her story and settled down. Last night, she was peering over my shoulder and I told her that it was time to go to sleep. A’s response: “Don’t worry mummy, I have one eye closed and one eye on your iPad, so I can sleep and watch you at the same time!”

A is also at that funny stage where her language is great and she talks really well now but sometimes the things that she comes out with are just totally random . I made a comment about her hair the other day and I said it looked like she had something in her hair as it looked funny.

“It’s because I have a wobbly tooth.” Was her reply and she started to ‘wobble’ the non-existent wobbly tooth.
“I don’t think that a wobbly tooth would make your hair look funny.”
“No mummy, it does because the tooth has gone all wobbly, which has made my hair frozen and now there are rainbows coming out of it.”

That was one of those moments when I just didn’t even have to energy to argue with her about it.

And finally a conversation that I had with L, who used to be the subject of all my ‘funee’ posts but now he is a very grown up eight year old, life is much more serious.

L “I have decided what I want to be when I grow up *proud face*”

Me “What?”

L “A cooker!”

Me “That’s brilliant, but I think you mean a chef.”

L “No, no I definitely want to be a cooker.”
