I love the summer holidays but it would be nice to leave the three children alone for five minutes without world war three breaking out or one of them trying to wrestle or strangle another one half to death.
Brother and sister baiting is not a compulsory summer holiday activity. Neither is winding up Mum.
Just because it is the summer holiday, that does not mean that you can live on a diet of ice cream, chocolate and biscuits. Fruit is not only for term time.
I would like the child who gets the toys out to put them away, not kick them around the living room until I finally get fed up and do it for them.
I would love loom bands to go away. Permanently.
It would be nice to go for a whole five minutes without someone saying they are hungry or thirsty.
It would be so lovely if Minecraft broke and could never be fixed.
In fact it would be really nice if we could have a whole day without any screen time at all.
Meal times where everyone manages to arrive at the table, at the same time and didn’t moan about what was in front of them would be amazing.
If the overtired children could go to bed and sleep early instead of going hyper and making themselves more tired by refusing to go to sleep, that would be nice.
“I’m bored” should only be used in cases of extreme emergency and not used endlessly just because a child cannot be bothered to get off their bottoms and find something to do.
Car journeys should be times of great cheer and joy, filled with laughter, singing and excitement. That is the law.
Holidays should be times of general happiness and relaxation, not moaning, shouting or having to be on the go, every waking second of the day.
Balls should be played with in the garden only and not purposely kicked against the windows or constantly against the wall because you are angry with your mother.
Holiday cooking with Daddy is amazing but it would be even nicer if Daddy and his mini chefs would clear up after themselves instead of leaving it for the cleaning fairy to do (me).
Going out for the day with your family is a fun thing. Having to drag your moaning children out of the house is not. Mum is now officially fed up of saying; “See, I told you you would like/enjoy it!”
It would be nice if I could sit down occasionally without someone wanting something the minute my bottom touches the chair.
Sadly, we do not have an endless supply of money, however desperately you need that toy/magazine/pack of football stickers.
I really do love the summer holidays, I do but after three weeks, there are some things about this wonderful six weeks of family fun that need a little tweaking …

Me too. That is all. 😉

Totally get where you’re coming from! Especially ‘fruit is not just for term time’ and the ridiculous bedtimes. Why do they think they have to go to bed late, just because it’s the holidays?!

see now some of theses issues could have been sorted by only having one child, nobody but mum to argue with then, but its a bit late for that one!!
brother and sister baiting is a great learning curve for standing up for yourself in later life, and I often found the youngest was often the biggest instigator and would then come howling across to you expecting you to tell the big ones off while they run off with a smirk on their face
aaahhh the car……no getting away with that one…I say ban car journeys with children in the car.
and it could be worse, you could home educate and have the summer holidays 52 weeks of the year
