This time of year, I am always on the lookout for a good board game for the Christmas stockings and I have had my eye on Sort it Out from University Games as we need games now that will appeal to all ages from grandparents, teens down to the 9 year old. We put Sort It Out through its paces to see if this was a game that everyone could enjoy.
Sort It Out is a game which involved putting things into the correct order. From the biggest, the fastest, the loudest, the smallest, the longest of a wide range of different categories, you have to sort them in the quickest possible time. A little bit of knowledge is, of course, really helpful if you want to win, but the subjects are so diverse that most of the time you make a guess and that makes the game quite fun.

- 250 topic cards and instructions
Sort It Out is a suprisingly fast-paced game as you need to think on your feet to get the list into the correct order. It is a party game based on ordering items in lists (e.g. celebrities by year of birth). Players take a card of colour-coded list items, they read card and the players slot coloured tiles which match the answer colours on the card into position in a plastic holder. You can check the correct order the reverse of the list card. By answering questions you move around the game board with the winner being the first player to cross the finish.
We have been playing Sort It Out and there are lots of things we love about it. It is easy to set up and play and the rules are really simple. It is really fast-paced and one game doesn’t take too long to complete. It is really enjoyable to play and naturally brings out the competitiveness in us all. But what I particularly like about Sort It Out is that it is really interesting to play. It is fun to find to try and guess the order of interesting lists that you have no idea about and really interesting to find out the answers. It sparked some seriously interesting conversations which I didn’t expect. I am looking forward to unleashing it again over the festive period when we love a good board game or two and if you are looking for a new board game this Christmas, I definitely recommend Sort It Out.
Sort It Out is suitable for 2 or more players and the recommended age is 12 +. The teens loved it, as did the adults but my daughter did get bored with it quite quickly, so I think that the age recommendation of 12+ is correct. You can buy Sort It Out here for around £19.
