Planning Your First Post-Coronavirus Holiday

November 23, 2020 in Living

After months of lockdown restrictions, many people are now eagerly planning their first post-coronavirus holiday. With more effective protocols in place and promising news of a vaccine, it’s a great time to book a holiday and start looking forward to some time in the sun.

Understandably, people are a little apprehensive about travelling while the pandemic is on-going.

However, there are steps you can take to ensure your holiday plans go without a hitch. To ensure you’ve got everything covered, take a look at these top tips for planning your first post-coronavirus holiday:

Choosing Your Accommodation

If you’re still wary of being in close proximity to other people, you may want to factor this in when you’re choosing your accommodation. Booking family villas in Corfu island, rather than staying in a hotel, is a great way to ensure you can relax and maintain social distancing, for example. With your own space to enjoy, you can relax, unwind and enjoy your holiday without being unduly worried.

Safeguard Your Flights

No matter where you choose to go, there may be some uncertainty about your travel plans. If your destination is declared a hotspot at the last minute, for example, your flight could be delayed. Due to this, you’ll want to ensure that you secure a flight with free rebooking and/or insurance. This will provide maximum flexibility and ensure you’re able to adjust your plans, if necessary.

Reassure Youngsters

Dealing with the pandemic has been stressful and overwhelming for adults but it’s been a particularly difficult time for kids too. If you’re planning a family holiday, you’ll want to take steps to reassure youngsters that it’s safe to travel. Depending on the age of your children, this might involve explaining how companies are taking steps to increase safety or making sure they’re able to enjoy usual holiday luxuries, such as access to a pool or a private beach.

Book a COVID-19 Test

You can help to safeguard your flight and your trip by having a COVID-19 test just before you depart. By having a test one or two days before you travel, you’ll have a certificate to prove that you aren’t carrying the virus. Although this isn’t mandatory for most destinations, it can help to prevent last-minute issues, as well as giving you peace of mind.

Gather Essential Supplies

You might have a few extra things to add to your holiday packing list this year, such as face masks and hand sanitiser. By gradually stocking up now, you can ensure that you’ve got everything you need, without having to panic buy at the last minute. Of course, you’ll want to ensure you’ve got your swimsuit and suntan lotion at the ready too!

Enjoying Your First Post-COVID Holiday

Booking a holiday now will ensure you have something to look forward to throughout the Winter. While it’s totally normal to feel a little hesitant about travelling, you can be confident that the travel industry is taking every step to ensure it’s safe for people to fly internationally. With a little extra preparation, you can begin counting down to the day of your departure and enjoy your long-awaited holiday.
