Mrs Menopause Makes an Appearance

December 29, 2020 in Living

The aches and pains of Mrs Menopause can make an unwelcome appearance at any time once you hit the 40 to 50’s time frame, also referred to as the ‘perimenopausal’ phase of a woman’s life. It is sort of that stage where you are nearing the point of starting the menopause but are not quite there yet, with all the delightful side effects thrown in instead. Gone are the monthly agonies of mere lower abdominal cramping, back aches, and headaches that all appear during the monthly cycle in your younger years, to be replaced with other unwelcome guests such as extreme hot flushes, to migraines, nausea to night sweats, hair loss to even joint pain! You would think the body was 85 not 45!

Hurrah for Pain relief!

When these pesky problems appear then it is certainly time to reach for that Nurofen in the cupboard to help relieve all those aches and pains. Luckily, Nurofen is not just limited to one of these ailments otherwise you would find yourself dosing up on all sorts of painkillers to fix every single problem that Mrs Menopause likes to wreak havoc with. Instead, it is suitable for all the painful problems that come with being perimenopausal. The typical dosage would be to take 2 tablets initially (totalling 400mg) and then after that another 1 or 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours if you do not notice much of a difference after the initial first dose.

Other things that might prove beneficial are taking vitamin and mineral supplements, attempting to eat a balanced diet of healthy food (does a variety of milk to dark chocolate, not count as balanced?) and going out walking for 30 minutes a day to try and reduce pressure on your knee joints, which will only suffer more if you do not use them at all. Failing all that it might be necessary to reach for that Nurofen again, as the Ibuprofen (which is the main ingredient in it) is meant to help reduce any inflammation your poor knees might be suffering from.Mrs Menopause Makes an Appearance-2

Peace and quiet

Getting a good night’s sleep would be extremely beneficial at this point, as the body is so tired from the effects of Mrs Menopause during the working day, that by night-time it just wants to curl up in bed with a hot water bottle, duvet, eye mask and escape the rest of the annoying family in a dark and quiet room with no distractions. A decent mattress, some nice blackout curtains to prevent that pesky morning light peeking through the gaps and some calming aromatherapy oils will all add to the much-needed stress free mummy time. Which lets be honest doesn’t happen nearly enough!
