Oui, Wee and Coco Pox – Wot so Funee

Wot so Funee is on the move and there is now a team of four of us who will be hosting it one Tuesday throughout the month.  Helen from Actually Mummy will still be taking the reins once a month but you will also find Wot so Funee on Mummy Mummy Mum and Little Lilypad Co Blog.  If that sounds confusing, don’t worry as we will be each pointing you in the right direction.

It has been all about the girl again this week and she continues to amuse me with her fake now American accent that she uses when she is playing by herself.  She is very feisty at the moment though and is often found stropping, stomping and throwing things if she doesn’t get her own way.  She also has very selective hearing which lead to a strange conversation on the way back from playgroup the other day.

A: “Mummy who’s that?” (looking at the postman)

Me: “You know who it is.”

A: “It’s the postman, mummy!” in a smug voice as though I was clueless.

Me:”Oui. It’s the postman.” Trying to be clever and impart some French.

After a pause.  A”Why would I wee on the postman?”

Me: “No I was saying ‘Oui’ which is French for yes.”

A:”Yes you did wee on the postman?”

Me: “No, no-one weed on the postman, I was agreeing with you that it was in fact the postman.”

A: “I told you it was the postman.” (Triumphant voice)

One a similar topic, we had a rare accident at playgroup last week (when I say accident I mean of the wee kind) and this is really unusual.  A had done her usual trick of waiting until the absolute last minute to go to the toilet and then when she saw that they were both occupied she figured the floor was the next best place.  And my goodness she must have needed to go as her clothes and shoes were soaking.  The following day when I had cleaned her shoes and they were dry, I went to put them on in the morning and she wrinkled her nose as if there was a terrible smell and refused to wear them.   When I asked her why, she told me that they had wee in them and she never wanted to wear them again.  In fact, she said that I would have to buy her a new pair, right away.  Interesting idea, but I may have to get back to her on that one.

For some reason at the moment, A is obsessed with Coco Pops.  I have never bought chocolate cereals and she must have seen the advert as she keeps asking for them.  The other day, we watching Frozen for the billionth time and she asked me again if she could have a bowl of Coco pox.  I smiled to myself and asked her what Coco pox were; was it a weird disease where you came out in chocolate spots.  I must admit to laughing at that only to be cut down with a death stare from A who told me that I was an idiot.  That was the end of that conversation then and I am very clearly not funny.  At all.

We have recently bought Now 87 for the car and we can often be heard driving through the local ghetto (or village) with the windows down and the car vibrating to the music with L sleeves rolled up thrusting to the music (sadly, I kid you not ).  A particularly likes the son ‘Hey brother’ by Avicii and there is a line in the song “Ooooooh, if the sky comes falling down.For you.There’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do.”  Having sung this song in the car, A declared that if the sky was falling down R would be a lovely brother and save her but L wouldn’t do anything and would let the sky fall on her head.  I’m sure that’s not true but it did make us smile.

Finally this week, A is all about being a big girl now that she has a place in school for September and we have had lots of discussions about what a big girl would do.  She has decided that her career aspirations are a job in McDonalds.  I asked her why she wanted to work there and she said it was because she could eat fish-fingers and fries every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  She has also decided that her books are now ‘baby books’ and sat for about twenty minutes reading Rachael Lucas’s Sealed with a Kiss to me.  Although the accent was a little too American and the story was about Barbie and the Smurfs, so I think she might be better sticking to her own books for now.
