Morphy Richards Comfigrip Iron Review

September 2, 2013 in Reviews

I was lucky enough to be sent not one, but two irons by Morphy Richards to test out over the summer (I think someone must have told them about the gigantic ironing pile that is a permanent fixture in my kitchen). Last week, I posted a review of the Power Steam Elite Steam Generator which go a very big thumbs up from me and I was also sent a Comfigrip iron to review as well.

This iron is more like the iron that I had before but the first big difference that I noticed was the weight.  It is incredibly light and this really does help to make ironing easier.  The second difference is that it has an ionic soleplate which helps to reduce static and makes the iron glide effortlessly over your clothes.  Both of these features really impressed me as anything that makes the job easier are a real bonus.

In terms of general use, the Comfigrip has a good sized tank and it is really easy to fill thanks to a clever little jug that comes with it and it has variable steam with a powerful steam boost to help deal with those awkward creases.  It also has an auto shut off function which is brilliant if you walk away and forget to turn the iron off, which I have been known to do a few times in the past.

Another more unusual feature of the Comfigrip is that you can use it for vertical steaming, so if there is something light that you would prefer not to touch with the iron, you can hang it up and steam the creases out.  I haven’t tried this yet, but there are a couple of A’s party dresses that I will try it out on as they are impossible to iron.

All in all, this is a really good iron, it does everything that it says it does and it is so light to handle that it really does make the job easier.  I would definitely recommend the Comfigrip if you are looking for a good, reliable medium priced iron.

I was sent a Morphy Richards Comfigrip Iron for the purpose of this review.  All opinions and images are my own.
