Little Notes

October 2, 2013 in Reviews

The husband took on a new job last Easter and as it was a promotion, we knew that longer hours would be worked and that he wouldn’t see the children as much due to meetings and work commitments.

Luckily, this didn’t really happen until September and it has been tough on us all trying to adapt to the new routine.  Last week, he and A didn’t see each other for three days as he left before she woke in the morning and she was asleep before he got home. She is starting to get used to it now but she does sometimes have a sad little face because she ‘misses daddy so much.’
The boys miss him too of course but they are older and they understand about his job.  It is usually only when I tell them off about something that they tell me angrily that they wish daddy was here.
In a bid to make things a bit easier, daddy started to leave them little notes on the table in the morning.  At first he would use A4 paper (until I told him off for being wasteful) and then we were sent some 3M Post-It Super Sticky notes to review and this has been a great success.

He leaves each of the three children a separate note next to their breakfast bowl.  If there is something special that day, he will wish them luck or tell them to enjoy themselves.  Sometime he leaves them a little maths question, a riddle or a joke.  A obviously can’t read so I have to read hers but he always puts hearts and kisses on hers which she loves.

I have to admit that to begin with, I was as I often am, a little cynical. However, the children love their little notes.  They always sit and read them and any day that he forgets, they are really disappointed that there is nothing there.

The Post-It notes have been a real success as they are big, multi-coloured and extra sticky, so they make the notes really appealing as he often uses a different colour for each child too. They are really sticky and I am finding them useful too and you will quite often see a Post-It on the computer in the morning with my To Do list written on.
A insists in putting hers in her bag everyday and I had been throwing the others away, but this week I have started to keep them and I might try and find a box or a scrap book to keep them in as it will be a nice thing for the children to keep and look back on when they are older.

We were sent a selection of 3M Super Sticky Post-It Notes to review.
