The big C is a funny one isn’t it? You build up to it for weeks or months even, excitement and stress levels building to fever pitch and then after twenty four hours it is all over. The lights seem duller, the cards looks shabby and all of those wonderful decorations that seemed so lovely beforehand somehow lose their sparkle.
Having said all of that, we did have a lovely Christmas. It was my first ‘solo’ Christmas. Before you think my husband has left me, he is still here,but I was responsible for organising the festive season this year. I did everything from the choosing to the shopping, from the hiding to the wrapping, from the cooking to the washing up. All me. Hubby was as surprised by the children’s presents as they were this year and (rather annoyingly) kept saying how good the presents were and how much the children liked them. Yes I am the person who have birth to them, I do have some vague idea of what they like.
Some of the presents were a big hit. R had the much wanted stunt scooter and is keeping us all amused at his vague attempts to try and look like he knows what he’s doing on it. L wanted the robot dog which I am a little disappointed with – either ours needs new batteries or has athritis as it takes an age to do anything. A had dolls, dolls and more dolls and as the MIL seems to have bought the whole Lalaloopsy range, A is over the moon. She also had a Furby which I already have a love hate relationship with. L loved Furby so much that he bought one too with his own money and so joy of joys we have two and they talk and sing to each other.
So much money has been spent, a whole heap of food has been eaten and we are all feeling rested and a bit wider around the middle. I am looking forward to another week at home before we all trudge begrudgingly back to school and I will need that week to rearrange the house to accommodate all of the new toys.

Sounds like a success! Well done for doing it single-handed! I must say my husband has less and less involvement as the years go on too. You’re right about everything losing its sparkle as soon as Christmas is over. But we had a good one, so I’m pleased about that.
Hope you had an amazing Xmas. Doing all that yourself now makes you a pro you know, it’s no mean fear. Oh god, Furbys jabbering on to each other 🙂 we are getting one to review soon. I’ve heard they like to potter about and get on people’s nerves.
i do agree with you about how fast the festive day passes and how now the tree and decs look less appealing (am thinking of taking mine down tonight). AND i totally get what you said about the OH and the kids presents thing, i did show mine the boys gifts the night before i wrapped them all but i choe them all and bought and wrapped them all – and everyone elses too!

I’m with you on the Furby Boom – our Xmas was similar to last in that Skylanders featured again this time swap force instead of giants and my daughter had the pre all singing, egg laying furby last year. I too love the app but could happily smash its head in when it decides to chat away! My son who is nearly 10 also wants one now. Another big hit was sequin art – bit fiddly but they love it and keeps them quiet for hours! x
Go you, all of Xmas all by yourself – that’s huge!!
I am still drowning beneath piles of presents; our dog is awful too! Skylanders are a massive hit as is Log Billionaire the board game. The little ones are loving their Trunkis, play kitchen from Ikea and a happy hopper – no outdoors toys this Xmas, I’m hoping to save those for their birthdays in the summer.
Ethan is exactly the same on his scooter, massive enthusiasm which requires regular visits to the local skateboard park which I let his Dad do because my heart is far too weak to watch him throw himself around it! xx
