We have a new obsession in this house; Hama beads and we have been experimenting with Christmas shapes this year. The original plan was to make Christmas decorations and A wanted mini decorations for her little tree. It occurred to me that they would make good Christmas cards and so we have had a Hama production line going on, making and creating lots of different Christmas designs and then deciding which ones should be stuck on to make cards and which ones would make good Christmas decorations.
They are easy to make and we have made lots of different Christmas trees, Christmas presents and puddings, stars, snowflakes and candy canes. There are lots of ideas on Pinterest if you need inspiration or you can experiment with your own designs.
The cards are easy to make, I used blank white cards and stuck our finished Hama shapes on with a good quantity of PVA glue. I think they look pretty good.
For the Christmas tree decorations, I used small lengths of baker’s twine, threaded it through one of the top beads (making sure that the beads are securely in place) and then tied a knot ready to hang on the tree.
I am pleased with the results and the nice thing about using Hama beads for Christmas crafts is that the kids can join in too.

We too have a new found love of Hama beads! I think it was the MAD Blog Awards goody bags that had some of Craft Merrily’s hama beads in and Kitty spent a whole weekend just totally glued to them – brilliant to see kids concentrating and creating.
Guess what I have bought a load of for Kitty for Crimbo? Shhh don’t tell her!
