Let me take you on a magical ice journey where a thousand mini Elsas and Annas sat patiently waiting for the show to begin. (I had no idea how many different Elsa dresses there were in the world, there are a lot.) We start off our journey with our usual Disney on Ice hosts; Mickey and Mini Mouse who are dressed up and ready to introduce their magical guests to the ice with a little helping hand from their all important cohosts; Donald and Goofy.
Our first magical meeting is with Anastasia and Drisella, who are usually found being mean to their stepsister Cinderella but today they are joining Mickey and friends with an interesting song and dance to open the show.
The Little Mermaid
Luckily, they don’t hang around for too long as The Little Mermaid’s Sebastien bursts onto the ice with a flurry of colourful mermaids and the classic song; Under the Sea which everyone sang along to.
Not far behind him is dreamy Ariel longing for legs and to be able visit the human world to meet her prince. The costumes and back drop for this part of the show is stunning with an array of colours and we particularly loved the starfish and seahorses.
The tale of Ariel and Prince Eric is beautifully recreated and even the evil Ursula makes an appearance in all her ugly glory.
Tangled
The kingdom of Corona is the next stop on our magical journey and we are straight into the song ‘I have a dream’ with some of the thuggish residents of the Snuggly Duckling from Tangled. The song wouldn’t be the same without the golden-haired Rapunzel of course and she appears with her beautiful hair and trusty saucepan. She takes us on our next icy adventure with wicked Mother Gothel and the handsome Flynn Rider but Maximus the horse steals the show with his angry face and comical scenes where he pursues Flynn across the ice.
The attention to detail in each story that is recreated is amazing from the costumes and characters through to the key scenes such as the floating lanterns. The character voices are authentic and the stories are a shortened version of the films but capture the spirit of each story and include the favourite songs for everyone to sing along to.
Beauty and the Beast
19th century France is our next destination with one of my favourite Disney stories; Beauty and the Beast. Beautiful Belle is fending off the advances of the arrogant Gaston and finds herself in an enchanted castle where Beast has himself been enchanted and will only become a prince again if he understands love and is loved by someone.
Once again, Disney on Ice have triumphed with the recreation of this scene and we all watched with delight as the characters of Lumiere and Cogsworth and other household objects are brought to life on the ice.
Frozen
Finally, the moment all of the Frozen fans were waiting for as Anna, Sven and Kristoff skate onto the stage. The atmosphere changed completely inside the stadium. This is what everyone was waiting for.
Anna is explaining to Kristoff why she is looking for her sister and her part in Arendelle being suddenly plunged into the depths of winter.
They set off in search of Elsa and meet Olaf whose appearance causes the audience to cheer and clap.
All of the Frozen songs are there and everyone sings along to Let it Go. We watch the story enfold and wait with bated breath to see if Anna will be saved or whether evil Prince Hans will succeed in getting rid of both sisters.
It was magical and my daughter loved every minute of the show.
The Finale
As Frozen comes to an end, all of the characters from the different stories make an appearance in the finale to wave goodbye.
Having been to three Disney on Ice shows, I can honestly say that this is my favourite one so far but like all of the shows, the Disney magic makes it s show with a difference. Talented skaters with fantastic costumes and backdrops make these well thought out productions a must for all fans of Disney and they really do bring the stories and songs to life. We love it and A is already asking about the next show.

It is brilliant, you will love it. The whole show lasts two hours and there is an interval of about 15 minutes
i think your daughters estatic little face sums up how good the show was! it looks and sounds amazing and so well thought out and straged. I have never seen a show on ice before but the Disney ones always look super from the photos i have seen x

Oh wow, look at Little Miss As face!! I’ve never really been too interested in Disney on ice so we’ve not taken Z yet but this looks pretty spectacular!! I think I’m going to have to book a show for him, I reckon he’d love it!
