YES I KNOW IT’S HOT!!

July 2, 2015 in Family Life, Parenting

I’m so over this heat wave already.  Here are just a few of the responses I have given my children over the last few days;

Yes it’s hot.

Yes I KNOW it’s hot.

DO YOU NOT think that I’m hot too?

Yes you have to go to school with clothes on.

No you cannot do sports day in your pants.

Yes I know the bugs come in when the windows are open , why not try sleeping with the light off?

Yes I know you are sweaty.

No we can’t get the paddling pool out, it is lurking underneath the lawn mower in the shed.

No we can’t get the hose out, it is underneath the paddling pool. Which is still in the shed, under the lawn mower.

No you cannot have ice cream for every meal.

No you cannot get in the freezer.

No you can’t sleep in the tent.  Tents are just as hot in this weather.

No I know I don’t wear a sun hat, my head is too big. If I could find one to fit my head, I would be wearing one.

Yes you do need to wear sun cream. I know you don’t like the smell but it is non-negotiable.

No, spraying sun cream down your pants is very silly and wasteful.

No you won’t die from spraying you’re willy with sun cream.

Putting ice cubes down your pants, however, might do some damage.

Yes I would like to be by the sea too but we are not skiving off school to go.

Yes you do still have to go to school when it’s hot.

No I can’t stop the car from getting hot, it is made of metal.

No I can’t switch the sun off.

No you can’t stay up all night just because it’s hot.

No we are not attempting to fry eggs on the car it is too messy, it won’t work and quite frankly the car is so dirty, you would get food poisoning.

I do love you very much but please don’t sit on me/lie on me/lie next to me (delete where appropriate), it is just too hot.

I do love a bit of sunshine but some rain would now be very lovely.  Wake me up when it’s cooler.

Sunshine

I love this A LOT. Said a fair few of these myself over the last couple of days (although none of the ones about willies). Still can’t understand why my son was hot in bed with a thick onesie on and a duvet over him, though. A complete mystery.

Ha ha that made me chuckle. Our onesies were abandoned a couple of months ago but I can imagine your son must have been boiling!!

Our weather is balmy rather than heatwave-y – but the kids are off school and we just pop down the road and dip in the freezing sea when it gets a bit sweaty. Lucky I know!

You are so lucky! We are about two hours from the the nearest seaside and I would so love to live nearer to the sea.

Yes I think I’ve said a fair few of those too over the last week or so – I’ve resorted to cuddling ice blocks when the children decide the only way to get cool is to cuddle me!
