Since her sixth birthday, it has felt as though my six-year-old daughter has grown up overnight. She talks ten to the dozen about the things she is learning at school and is suddenly really fascinated by the world around her and loves science, geography and history especially.
Scientific experiments are popular and she loves to see how things work and the reasons why things happen in a certain way, so as soon as I heard about the concept behind the Project Mc2 dolls, I knew that they would appeal to her in a big way both because each doll comes with her own experiment to try to also because she is really into fashion dolls and Mc2 dolls are super fashionable.

Project Mc2 dolls are a brand range of fashion dolls from MGA Entertainment, the dolls offer a ‘geek chic’ lifestyle approach for tween girls through smart and savvy science-inspired play and they were officially launched last August the same day as the Netflix original series of the same name. With their unique and very fashionable clothes, there are four dolls; McKeyla McAlister who is a writer and undercover spy, Adrienne Attoms is a chemist whose father is a Spanish diplomat, Bryden Bandweth is tech obsessed and loves tweeting, digital photography and streaming music and finally Camryn Coyle who is a genius with a souped-up skateboard. The girls attend the same academy but are also part of a cool secret organisation.
The new Project Mc2 dolls each come complete with their own experiment so not only can the dolls be played with along with some interesting accessories, there is an experiment which is easy to carry out at home. The experiment details are on the back of the box and can easily be taken off and kept so that the experiment can be done over and over again. You can create McKeyla’s lava light or Camryn’s skateboard, make Adrienne’s volcano erupt or Bryden’s bracelet light up. All experiments use products you can find in your own home for the ultimate in interactive science play.
We were sent a Project Mc2 Bryden doll which has an experiment to make a light-up bracelet. Bryden is wearing a very bright outfit of leggings, hoodie and a plastic see-through raincoat and has a cat ears hairband, a pair of disguise glasses and a cat mask. She is a very lifelike doll with the most amazing hair, she even comes with her very own beaker shaped comb.
My daughter loved the doll instantly and loved being able to take the clothes on and off, the doll is a similar size to some of her other dolls and she soon had them all out to ‘introduce’ them and discovered that she could use clothes from her other dolls too.
She particularly loves Bryden’s teddy bear shoes.
The experiment was a big success too. The light up bracelet simply needs to be opened up and water added in with the pipette provided and it lights up and changes colour.
The concept behind the Project Mc2 dolls is a positive one. The dolls are smart, seriously fashionable and they make being clever very cool and as a parent, I applaud what they have done. The Mc2 girls are positive role models for young girls and provide a real inspiration and aspiration. By adding the new range of dolls with an experiment is such a good idea, it makes the dolls more interesting and gives you an easy way to make science fun in the comfort of your own home.

These sound great and a definite change from the usual rather shallow fashion dolls. I can see why A would like them so much. Is it just me who thinks it’s a shame they’re still shaped like Barbie?
I’ve never seen dolls like this before, what a brilliant idea and so much better than Bratz dolls that wear a tonne of makeup. She looks completely fascinated 🙂
