Starting your period for the first time can feel like a pretty big deal, and as parents, we want to make it as easy and stress-free as possible. When my daughter was approaching that time, I was quite anxious about how to prepare her, so I put together a box of pads with a couple of treats to help her feel ready.

I particularly like the idea of introducing period pants from the beginning. Pads and tampons can be a little daunting for some teenagers, and learning how to use them when you’re already dealing with the emotions of getting your first period can feel like a lot. Period pants are something they can simply put on, without having to worry about positioning a pad correctly or learning how to use a tampon.
The changing bag is another really thoughtful addition. It gives them somewhere discreet to keep their period supplies and somewhere to put their pants when they need changing, which could make managing a period at school feel much less embarrassing or stressful.
But I think what I like most about this kit is the message behind it: there’s nothing scary about getting your period and you’ve got this.
