SPAshell at Fishmore Hall

Visiting Fishmore Hall last weekend was a treat in itself.  Shropshire is a county that I am ashamed to say I haven’t really explored but en route to Fishmore Hall, I drove through beautiful towns and villages and the Shropshire countryside is stunning.  I even found myself driving through snow on the Clee Hills which was amazing and rather strange at the same time.

Tucked in the heart of this beautiful countryside, in between Cleobury Mortimer and Ludlow, Fishmore Hall is a privately owned hotel which has stunning views of the surrounding landscape and the town of Ludlow.

The newly opened SPAshell sits at the back of the hotel and is a separate building but only a very short walk from the back of the hotel.  It has four treatment rooms complete with Italian designed sauna and steam rooms and a relaxation lounge for complete calm and space to chill out. The garden area has a cedar wood vitality pool and bucket and monsoon drench showers and loungers and a hammock to lie down and take in the incredible views.  The whole place has a very eco-friendly look and feel to it.

Elemis are the brand used for treatments at SPAshell and having used Elemis products myself over the year, you know your skin is in for a real treat too.

There are lots of wonderful sounding treatments to choose from, including the pioneering BIOTEC face treatments which use a machine to switch your skin cells back on by increasing the natural cellular energy.  This will leave skin looking visibly nourished, energised and healthy. There is a range of BIOTEC treatments such as Line Eraser, Firm-a-Lift, and Skin Resurfacer and if I went back, I would definitely choose one or more of these treatments,

For this visit, I chose the back, neck and shoulder massage as I could feel how tense my upper back and shoulders were and I knew that would be perfect for me.  The treatment rooms are lovely with neutral colours, low lighting, gentle music and soothing scents and each has a shower if you need to use it after your treatment and robes, slippers and towels are provided.  You chat first about any issues and then once you are ready, the massage begins.  With the lights lowered right down and using essential oils to suit your mood, you can choose how firm or gentle you want the massage to be. I chose firm and I really needed it.  Areas of tension were quickly found and worked on and 25 minutes later, I was almost asleep.  It was incredible.

Once the massage was done, we had a chat about where the areas of tension had been and also that I was dehydrated which was interesting to know.

Feeling fully relaxed, I headed to the relaxation lounge to experience the other facilities SPAshell has to offer. The relaxation lounge has four comfortable chairs where you can sit, relax and take in the views of the garden and beyond.  In there are the sauna and steam room, so you can spend time in both and then relax again in the lounge with a blanket.

As it was a chilly November afternoon, I didn’t spend long in the garden other than to take a look but the views are really wonderful.  Out there, you can relax on the loungers or hammock or maybe take a dip in the vitality pool and if you are really brave, have a refreshing monsoon drench shower.  I can imagine that on a warmer day, the garden is a wonderful place to spend time outside in the fresh air, really continuing to relax.

Our final treat was afternoon tea.  I opted to stay in my dressing gown in the relaxation lounge but I could have had tea in the hotel restaurant which also looked gorgeous.  After delicious sandwiches and a cream tea and even more cakes, I headed home feeling completely relaxed and stress-free and I would recommend a trip to SPAshell at Fishmore Hall.  The treatments look amazing and the staff were all really friendly and couldn’t do enough to help us make the most of our visit.
