Even when the whole world seems to be growing a beard, I was relieved that my husband stood strong and didn’t get pulled along with the tide of everyone else. Firstly, a beard does not suit him. It was not a good look and we both agree to never speak of it again.
Shaving daily it is then and as life always gets in the way of important things such as telling me that he needs a razor blade and him having to make a mad dash to the open all hours supermarket at some ungodly hour, he was quite intrigued by the idea of a shaving subscription.
These days, subscriptions seem to be the ‘thing’ and they are a thing I most definitely like. So how does the subscription work? First of all, when you sign up, you decide what you would like in your box. The first box comes with a razor handle which can be personalised with up to three initials at no extra cost and is a particularly nice touch if you are buying it as a gift for someone. You can then choose to add 6 razor blades, pre-shave face scrub, shave gel or cream and post shave balm. The prices are included and you can see the total price for your box at the bottom and you can have all of the products or just a selection. If you have all of the products, the first box will cost £30.
Delivery is free and if you continue with the plan, you can choose the frequency of the deliveries and exactly what you want each time, it is easy to pause, reschedule or change the contents of your box at any time, there is no commitment.
We were sent the starter box to review and my husband was quite excited to find that there was a parcel for him (that never usually happens.) The packaging is nice and all of the items are nicely presented with the razor handle, cover and blades all in separate boxes.
My husband has been trying out the razor and skin products over the last few days and he is impressed. He said that razor is good quality and gives a good smooth cut and he loves the shave gel, it has a nice smell and makes his skin feel soft afterwards. He will be the first to admit that he is too lazy to use any other products but I have made him try the face scrub and post-shave balm and he agrees that it is worth the effort, he particularly likes the post-shave balm which has a fresh minty smell and leaves his skin feeling amazing.
So it is a big thumbs up from him and he loved the razor personalisation and agreed that was a nice touch. Would he pay to carry on with the subscription? Absolutely, he loves the idea of blades arriving every six weeks as it will save him from those late night dashes to the supermarket.
