Spring is definitely the season where I look wearily around my house and make a mental list of the many, many jobs that need doing. There is something about that burst of spring sunshine that can really make everything look a little lacklustre and in need of some serious tender loving care.
That is all well and good, but my list is very long and if I did everything on the list, it would take a lot of time (which I don’t have) and a huge amount of money (which I also don’t have). So, I am always on the lookout for quick and easy ways to update a room on a budget.
The advantages of curtains
That got me thinking about curtains. We have blinds in most of our rooms, a decision we took a few years ago as we thought they would be easier to look after than curtains. But I miss my curtains. There is something quite therapeutic about drawing curtains at the end of a long hard day and a good pair of lined curtains block out a lot more light too.

When you are looking for curtains, there are so many different styles, colours and materials available which suit every style of room in the house from bathrooms through to bedrooms.
Most curtains are easy to care for, unlike blinds, you can wash and iron them and have them back up at the window in a short time, which also means they last longer too.
You can style curtains up too, maybe add in tie backs which will make them look even more stylish and this also helps bring more light into the room, if the curtains are pulled right back.
Which style of curtain to choose?
The possibilities are endless. Maybe, like me, your rooms are fairly plain and simple and you want to add a serious burst of colour? You can go for bold colours and styles to really add something different to the room and make a statement. Alternatively, you can go for something to match the colours that you already have. You could go for something light and sheer which gives rooms a light and breezy feel.

Curtains made from natural textures give rooms more of a classic look. Linen is a really versatile fabric and makes great curtains as it is thick enough to retain heat but also opaque enough to keep out the light. It is also a nice light curtain which makes them easy to hang and maintain and of course, there is a huge range of colours available.
If you are looking for good quality linen curtains that are also reasonably priced, why not try Yorkshire Linen and take a look at their collection. You’ll be sure to find something to suit your taste.
Whichever curtains you decide on, you can be sure of one thing, they will make a big impact on any room. This is the perfect way to update a room without blowing your budget and of course, if you look after your new curtains, they will last for years.
