Planning the best kids’ sleepover

November 4, 2019 in Parenting

Kids love sleepovers. It’s their time to spend with friends outside of school but planning for the parents can be a very stressful experience. Not only are you caring for your own child but you’re caring for somebody else’s too! We’ve put together a post with some helpful tips to ensure the sleepover runs as smoothly as possible, ensuring your kids have the best night ever and you have some time to relax!

Sleep time

The least exciting but of the night but sadly for them, they need to do it, even with bellies full of sweets! There’s a great range of kids beds from bedguru.co.uk if you’re on the lookout for somewhere for them to crash out! If you need somewhere for both kids to stay, then take a look at bunk beds or guest beds where you’ll find a pull out bed underneath. You’ll need somewhere with additional storage to ensure you keep all the clutter out of the way. This keeps the floor clean and means they have plenty of room to play.

The food

Just like adults, kids love food, if not more! It’s one of the best parts of the sleepover and you’ll likely need to plan their breakfast and dinner. It needs to be both tasty but not too unhealthy because otherwise you may find the other parents on the phone angrily asking why their child refuses to eat their greens! A hearty breakfast in the morning will round things off, maybe eggs and soldiers or shaped toast to make it extra special.

Play time

Kids love to play, and you need to ensure that they get all that energy out of their system before it comes to bedtime. Something active at the start like hide and seek or an activity in the garden will help them burn up energy. When it heads towards bedtime, sit them down in front of the TV with a healthy snack and they’ll be relaxed and ready for bed when the time comes.

A memory to let them remember the night

Sleepovers will be the highlight of your kid’s year and something they remember for years to come with their friends. Make sure you take plenty of pictures and encourage them to make something they can take home to show their parents how much of a good time they have, maybe a baked good?

It’s always nice for the kids to have something to remember the night by, whether that be pictures or maybe even a goodie bag? You could always encourage them to bake something so they have something to take home to their parents, however, this can get very messy, so you need to be careful!

I don’t know about you, but I still have great memories of sleepovers from when I was a child so make sure your child and their friends leaves with the same memories. If you have any recommendations make sure to comment below, I’d love to hear from you!
