How To Give Your Little One The Best Possible Start

February 25, 2020 in Parenting

When we think of encouraging our children, we often turn our heads to the things we can do in later life that will resonate with our children as they grow into young adults. Well, while this may be great, what is stopping us from taking this same attitude and applying it to when our young ones are most susceptible to information.

It seems that despite the advances in science or our understanding of the human mind, there are still millions of people that fail to recognize just how incredible the mind of our very small children may be.

Today, we are going to be taking a comprehensive look at why we should start to introduce stimuli to babies from an early age, we will then look at why teaching a baby from a very early age is important and then finally we will look at a few things you should be doing with your young one that could really give them an amazing boost into their early years.

How To Give Your Little One The Best Possible Start

Why Start Them Early

Ok, so the first thing we should address here is that babies are often more capable than most people give them credit for. If we take a look at how much a child can achieve in two short years, the facts would actually point to them being more capable than an adult.

If you think this is a ludicrous notion, let’s take a deeper look. Over the space of two years, a baby learns to crawl, walk, eat, talk and visually communicate, by the time most children are two, they can speak pretty well and put together advanced sentences. If this were you or I learning a new language, would we be at this stage in such a short time?

The answer behind this is probably no. So taking all of this into account, why should we only stick to the normal things when it comes to encouraging and teaching our young ones.

The truth is, young children have the ability to absorb so much information; it seems silly not to introduce as much stimulus as possible to them from an early age. Now, while we are talking about introducing stimulus and teaching them more, we do have to be careful.

When it comes to teaching our young ones, we have to ensure that we walk a very fine line. We need to be sure that we are encouraging our little ones to learn and not pushing them too hard to do something that will make them unhappy.

If we really want them to learn, the most important thing we can do for them does not only introduce new things for them but more than this we should be finding ways to make learning fun.

It matters not what age you are, if you are enjoying something, you will get more from it, at a young age, the more fun a child is having, the more information that will be absorbed and the child will overall be happier as well as smarter.

In the next section, we are going to be looking at some things you can do with your babies and toddlers that will not only bring some more joy into their lives; they will also learn a lot more than you know.

Animal Movements

Over the last few years, we have gone from fads such as baby yoga, which pose no enjoyment for babies all the way to animal movements. If you are unfamiliar with the concept of animal movements, well, they are pretty much as they sound, but they offer so much to your young one.

If you are looking for a way to calm your little one, improve hand-eye coordination, and also teach them a few things along the way, spending a little time every day playing an animal moves game with them can really give them some fun learning time.

We will begin by saying that while you may think these are just for older children, you can take on a few of these to help your little one while they are still learning to crawl. If you are encouraging your little one to crawl, there are some great tips in this article https://www.mustelausa.com/baby-crawling that may help, but you can also bring in some animal moves too that can help this get moving.

By getting down on the floor and doing movements like the worm, the snake and the dog, you will be actively showing you little one that they can have lots of fun with mommy and daddy once they are on their way to crawling around.

For the older children, there are endless animals you can imitate the movements of with them, and you should be sure to also introduce the noises of the animals too. At certain points, you can ask your little one to take over and do their favorite animals.

With something as simple as this, you will be testing their cognitive ability as well as building their confidence along the way.

As you can see, while they may sound simple, animal movements can offer so much to your young one, and they can be some of the best things for their mind, body, and confidence.

Get Cerebral

The next thing we are going to be looking at is interacting with your young one from a very young age and stimulating their mind.

One of the most important things you should remember is that from around six months old, the brain of your little one is filled with firing neurons, and it’s begging for stimulus. Now, while most parents think that a playmat may be the way forward, there is so much more you should be doing.

The best thing you can do for your little one is to sit with them and play with them. While they may not be the most interactive of beings at this age, you will find that everything you do, they are taking in.

It seems that recent studies have shown that speaking to your baby like an adult can really have great benefits as children get older. If this seems a little far-fetched, then we should take a look at some of the proposals that state that children who are subject to television shows that involve baby talk will often lead to speech impediments and problems learning in early life.

So, if you are willing to give it a try, you can sit down with your little one for an hour a day and start playing with them and their toys. It is recommended that you count with them and also say colors. By doing these two activities, by the time they can talk, they are able to break down some associations between the stimulus that you have been introducing them to over the previous months.

Another incredibly important thing you should be doing with your little one is reading to them. As a child gets older, it will obviously widen its vocabulary daily; if you have spent a great deal of time reading to your little one, you will probably find that as your little one grows, their vocabulary and pronunciation is more advanced than other children around them.

Get Active

The final thing we are going to be looking at in today’s post is the importance of getting active with your little one.

In today’s world, it is more important than ever to encourage your little one to get outside and get involved with some of the activities that were a staple of our youth.

To begin with you, from an early age you should be taking your little one out to get plenty of fresh air, and you should also be looking to introduce them to swimming. By taking your little ones swimming from a very early age, you will be helping them build confidence in the water, and as they get older, they will also find enjoyment in keeping fit.

The final thing you should be looking to do is making sure that you have lots of activities in the backyard for them to do. While many parents like to wrap their young ones up in cotton wool, you need to think back to how wonderful your backyard was when you were young and how many adventures you had in it.

Children need to explore, and this will not only teach them right from wrong, but it will also help them develop a wonderful imagination and allow them to be incredibly creative.

Conclusion

So there you have it, this has been just a few ways that you can give your little ones an amazing start in life and send them into their school years as confident and creative little boys and girls.
