Wake Up It’s A Beautiful Morning: Early Morning Strategies For Mums!

April 9, 2020 in Parenting

Prising yourself from a nice warm bed at 6, 5, or even 4 am in the morning isn’t much fun. Sadly, it’s also a task that many mummies (& daddies) have to do, especially if their kids are early risers. Of course, you can’t make getting up to entertain a toddler while it’s still dark outside truly enjoyable, but you can make it a little more bearable. Just read the strategies for early mornings discussed below.

Caffeine

For a tired parent, caffeine is one of the most wonderful things in the world. In fact, even if it’s cold and raining outside, and your little one is already grizzly, the promise of a hot steaming coffee can get you through!

You can get your caffeine hit in many forms now too. With stars such as Grimes swearing by edible caffeine cubes to get her up in the morning.

You may even like to combine your am cup of Joe with other beneficial supplements like CBD. Something that the product from Evocoffee does for you. Then you can really give yourself the best start to the day possible, no matter how early you have to get up.

Make things easy

Next, getting up earlier is always much easier when you have a simple routine to rely on. Then you don’t have so many confusing decisions or problems flying at you. Something that can be very overwhelming when you have not yet fully woken up.

With that in mind, be sure to set aside some time each evening to prep things for the morning. First, make sure your slippers and robe are in easy reach of the bed. Then you don’t have to brave the cold, which makes getting up a little easier. Also, setting out bowls and cups for breakfast food and drink can help a lot as well.

You may even want to invest in a Teasmade or Smart kettle or coffee machine that you can turn on when you wake. Then you will have a nice warm cup of something read to go when you get downstairs.

Have something to look forward to

It’s also a brilliant idea to plan something that you personally look forward to as close to when you get up as possible. Now. I know this can seem like a real challenge when you have kids to take care of, but it doesn’t have to be too ambitious.

For example, 5 minutes playing a game on your phone or reading a book while they eat their breakfast is a great idea. You may even want to opt for putting on some morning TV or a favourite box set. Then you will start to make the association that getting up early is a positive experience.

Set boundaries and be consistent with them

Finally, when it comes to getting up early, remember that your kids won’t get up at this time forever. In fact, you can begin to train them to stay in bed a little longer to ease this situation. Something that a Gro Clock can be used for as it gives them a clear message of whether it’s OK to get up, or whether they need to stay in bed.
