Every mother, expectant mother, or woman who is trying to conceive would readily agree. For many, it is an act of self-discovery and self-growth, as you learn so much about yourself when you have a baby. Life will never be the same when you have a baby. Whether it is a goal or an accomplished dream, motherhood changes everything.
But, in many ways, motherhood is also a rollercoaster of emotions. Mothers, whether they carry their babies in their arms or their minds, embark on an emotional journey from the moment they decide to conceive. There is no end to motherhood. Once a mother, always a mother, regardless of how old your child is. It’s fulfilling, exciting, wonderful. But it can introduce new uncertainties into your life. If you are facing the motherhood’s Pandora box of worries, here’s a little tip for you: sometimes, you are too harsh on yourself.
What if I can’t get pregnant?
Every body is different. Therefore, if you are at the start of the journey towards motherhood, the last thing you should do is compare yourself against others. It can only lead to fears and sadness. Fertility issues are more common than you might think. Indeed, the body responds to a variety of factors. Your diet could affect your reproductive health, for instance. High stress levels can make it hard to get pregnant. However, according to one of the top fertility clinics, fertility problems are not a fatality. More often than not, hormonal imbalance can get in the way of being a mother. There are also many treatments available to help you along the parenthood path. The bottom line: it doesn’t mean anything about your qualities as a future mother.
I’m not sure I’m doing it right
No parent is 100% perfect. As a mother, you could be too harsh when judging yourself. Being a good mother has nothing to do with doing a perfect job. First of all, perfection isn’t of this world. Yet, you will get things wrong. Everybody does. But that should not make you feel insecure. You need to give yourself credit for all the things you are doing. Caring for your child’s welfare is an essential part of your day, from seeking out food they will like to giving them tough love when it is necessary. You remember to celebrate and enjoy the journey, whether you’re taking the time to play together or to buy them a present. These are also what makes your bound stronger and your relationship healthier. Finally, you shouldn’t feel guilty about taking time for yourself. You need to take care of yourself before you can take care of others.
They won’t need me when they’re grown up
Being a mother to a baby and being a mother to an adult are two different experiences. The relationship needs to evolve as your child grows older. As a mother, your role isn’t the same. But that doesn’t mean you can’t maintain a loving relationship together. Love and respect are central to the bound when the dynamic changes. You can become a friend for your adult child when you embrace the change.
Every mother wonders if she is good enough. Perhaps that’s what makes you a good parent, the art of questioning your actions and your role. The Pandora box of motherhood is filled with worries. Yet, if you let them disappear, you can focus on what matters. Experience motherhood with love rather than fear.
