When products you love are discontinued …

My husband often comments that I don’t like change.  This comment always makes me sigh dramatically in disbelief and argue bitterly that it is not at all the case. I love change, I embrace it.

Unless it is regarding something that I use regularly and love dearly.  Then I hate it.

Hairdressers are a good example of that.  I had a VERY bad experience with a hairdresser in my teens.  That is another story but the long and short of it is that the very impressionable teenage me was mortified and as a result I found it very difficult for a long time to trust hairdressers.  When I find a good one I want to cling on for dear life.  Then eventually, they leave and most of mine have really left and gone to live in another country.  A bit far to go for a quick trim.

But it is the same with products and I really hate it when something I have been using forever suddenly disappears off the the shelves never to be seen again.

This has happened to me twice recently and has caused me to moan a lot.

Firstly, I bought a coffee machine for my husband well over and year ago now and although I enjoyed the occasional cup of coffee with him, I’m not a big coffee drinker. But I do love a Chai Latte.  Usually, these set me back a few pounds from a cafe until I discovered that the brand of coffee machine we had bought did a range of Chai Latte pods.  I was thrilled.  For well over a year, I had at least one of these little delights every single day.  I had to order them online but I loved them.  They contained a lot less sugar than the cafe versions and I so looked forward to my daily cup at the end of the working day.

Then suddenly a few weeks ago, they were no longer in stock.  My usual website removed them from their range. I feared the worst, but searched my other alternatives.  Nothing, You could buy the odd box on eBay for about ten times the usual price, but I wasn’t that desperate.

So I took to Twitter and discovered many threads with said coffee brand from other outraged Chai lovers and the answer from the brand was sad news indeed.  Due to a decrease in demand, they were no longer producing them and suggested people try their plant-based coffee range.

I would have liked to tell them where to shove their plant-based coffee range …

I have attempted to find alternatives. There are some powdered mixes available but they aren’t the same and I do so miss my little cups of Chai.

If that wasn’t bad enough, I then discovered another much-loved product of mine had changed.  My beloved moisturiser.

I have extremely dry skin and struggled for many years to find a skin care range that suited me.  Many years ago, someone recommended the Liz Earle range and to be honest, I haven’t looked back.  I have been using the hot cloth cleanser and moisturiser for years and years. I love the combination and the fact that I didn’t have to worry about my skin at all.

Thankfully, the hot cloth cleanser hasn’t changed, but the moisturiser did.  I thought to begin with that maybe it was just the packaging but sadly not.  The cream was a different consistency and didn’t feel the same when I used it. After a few days, my skin started to dry out and I had to dig out my emergency moisturiser that I used to use before when I had any issues.

I took to the internet to get some recommendations of different moisturiser to try and invested in a couple to try but it so far isn’t going terribly well.  Neither of them is really right, so I will have to invest in more until I find something that works.

I realise change can be a good thing but if any more things that I love are removed from shops, I will be seriously unimpressed.
