How To Get Downtime When Travelling With Children

December 16, 2021 in Travelling

Taking your children away on holiday with you means many action-packed days, which can be extremely fun yet tiring. It is important to get some downtime when travelling so that you return home refreshed and rejuvenated. If your downtime often gets hindered on holiday with children, then here are some tips to get some downtime when travelling.

How To Get Downtime When Travelling With Children

Explore after dark

Should you want some time to relax and find peace when you are on holiday with children, it could be a good idea to explore after dark. You can hire a nanny or ask anyone on the trip with you to take care of the children when they are sleeping so that you can have an hour or two to yourself (or with your partner) in the evening when on holiday.

For example, you can explore Sydney after dark while your mum or dad take care of your children when they are sleeping. This will give you an opportunity to get downtime, explore the city, and find some real peace and quiet.

Don’t overload the itinerary

Should you want to spend every minute with your children on holiday yet still want downtime, then it can help to avoid overloading your itinerary. Don’t stress and feel that you need to fill out every hour with something to do. So long as there is an activity each day to entertain the children, you will be able to satisfy yourself and them.

You can have an amazing family holiday together and have equal amounts of fun and relaxation with a relaxed itinerary.

Pre-book the activities

Speaking of activities, it can help to pre-book what you want to do so that you don’t miss out on the opportunity and disappoint the children. Your children might really want to do something and if it gets fully booked, then you might have to deal with a miserable child for the rest of the trip, which will really disrupt your downtime.

Therefore, ensure to book the activities before you go. This will ensure that everything you want to do is prepared and you can plan your itinerary efficiently to ensure that you get downtime.

Book hotel activities

Along with the same topic of activities (because children love to do them) it can help to book activities in the place that you are staying. This means that you will be able to enjoy time around the pool while your children are taken care of by the hotel staff when participating in activities.

There are plenty of family-friendly hotels that will ensure you can get an hour of downtime while your children play football, in the pool, or snooker during a set time. Hotels typically have a weekly planner of activities, which you can sign your children up for to make sure you get some time to yourself to unwind.

Using these tips you will be able to make sure that you get enough downtime on your next trip when travelling with your children.
