Ways To Spend Quality Time With Your Teens
Do you find that you are too busy to stop and smell the proverbial roses? Are you missing out on important moments in your children’s lives? These questions become even more important as your young ones enter into their teenage years as they will be off
living their own lives before you know it. Time passes all too quickly, so you need to take a pause and focus on what is most important to you – your relationship with your children. Continue reading for some fun ideas on how to have quality time with your teens.

Create Bracelets

There is no age limit to wearing bracelets. From designer to designed-by-you, what matters is that they are fun to wear and even more enjoyable to create. This is especially true when you sit down with your teenager to craft unique, one-of-a-kind bracelets with cute letter beads

Put on a playlist, no streaming or live TV shows, though, as they will pull your attention toward the screen instead of each other and the project at hand. Set out some refreshing drinks, mess-free snacks, and then get started. Take inspiration from recent friendship bracelet trends, or make them as you wish. You can swap them with each other or make bracelets for special occasions and gifts. The possibilities are endless, but the memories are forever.

Bake a Family Recipe

Even if you have a teen who is hesitant to enter the kitchen, you can get them excited by offering to teach them how to make one of their favourite family recipes. Pick something they love to eat that has a little nostalgia and history to it. If their grandmother is famous for her desserts, try a traditional English Trifle that would make her proud. Pay attention to the ingredients, of course, to ensure the result is teen-appropriate.

Once again, playing music is a fun way to set the mood. Gently guide your teen from preparing the ingredients, utensils, and tools to the finished result. While this is a wonderful teaching opportunity, you should teach and bake alongside them instead of taking over. It will enforce their ability to learn and do new things on their own and create a special tradition for the two of you.

Ask Your Teen

If you are unsure about what to do together, ask your teenager for ideas or to take the lead. If they suggest something that is outside of your comfort zone, keep an open mind. When they witness your efforts in trying something new or pushing your boundaries, you just might inspire them to do the same at other points in their life.

Some fun things your teen may propose include:

  • Colour your hair together
  • Go to the spa
  • Get a manicure
  • See the latest teen movie
  • Make TikTok videos together

If you do not have a TikTok account, watch this short tutorial to learn how.
