Even with the onset of streaming services and YouTube, we do often still all sit down together as a family on a Saturday evening for a good game show. Limitless Win is one of those shows and although it does get very challenging, it is quite a different show as everything revolves around numbers. Questions like ‘ how many Jaffa Cakes are in a packer?’ or ‘ how many sails and flags are on the Blue Peter logo?’, ‘ how many white stars are there on the Australian flag?’ and so many more can get you seriously thinking. I mean, how many times over the years have I seen the Blue Peter logo and I could not even hazard a guess at how many flags and sails it has. The same goes for Jaffa Cakes, I have eaten many, many Jaffa Cakes but I have never counted how many come in one box – I am far too busy eating them. So as a game, it is really interesting, it sparks debate amongst us as a family as we try and work it out and it is genuinely interesting to find out the correct answer.
Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win The Gameshow
The premise of the game show is to move up a ladder by answering questions. The answer to each question is a number and you move up the ladder the number you give as an answer. The further up the ladder you go, the higher the money you can win and as the title hints at – there is no limit to how much you can win. However, in order to bank the amount you have reached on the ladder, you have to answer your questions correctly. You also have a number of lives earned in a quick fire round at the beginning, if your answer is short of the actual answer, you use up those lives to bridge the gap. When you are dealing with bigger numbers, those lives can be used up very quickly. The thing to avoid is going over the number in your answer, even if you go over by one, you lose everything. There are also some lifelines that you can unlock randomly as you move up the board. It is really good fun to play along with and you are on the edge of your seat sometimes watching people make decisions that might win or lose them thousands of pounds.
Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win The Board Game
There is now an Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win board game and having enjoyed the show, we were really excited to have a go at the game. The board game works in a very similar way to the game show. You play in two teams and each team is given a score dial and a score tracker. Similarly to the show, there are two stages to the game – firstly the life builder where you answer as many questions as you can in 60 seconds to gain lives for you and your team. Once both teams have earned their lives, stage two of the game begins and a player from each team reads aloud questions for their teams. The teams then work collaboratively and once a decision is made about the answer, they move their answer dial to select the answer to the question. when both teams have selected their answer, they reveal the response and move the score trackers to the correct place. If one of the teams gives an exact answer, they bank the value of the milestone they have landed on. If it is not exact, they either lose lives if below or they lose the game if their answer is more than the exact answer and with that they lose any banked money.
There is a cash out button which you place between the two teams. A team can choose to cash out and end their game early by tapping the gold cash out button. By cashing out, the team secures the money they have banked. The other team can continue to play until they run out of lives or choose to cash out. The winners are the team that banked the must money overall.
With over 600 questions, the Limitless Win question cards are divided into three piles and you could play three rounds using all three colours of the cards. You also have the added element of playing with the internet. There is a QR code included with the game and this adds
The instructions for the game are really clear, if you have never watched the show and it can take around 30 minutes to play. It is suitable for players aged eight or over but this is a game that appeals to all ages from teenagers to adults. We really enjoyed playing the game and it has had a few outings already. It is competitive but also really sparks some interesting debates and surprise reactions when you find out the answers to the questions, especially the ones you think you should know … and don’t.
