23snaps is a relatively new free App and website in the UK and it is a site where you upload photos, videos, informations and even the height and weight of your children.  It is a really lovely way of keeping an online record of your children for yourself, but you can also invite friends and family to privately view your updates and shares whenever they want to.

23snaps is a little bit like Facebook where you share photos and other things, but you are safe in the knowledge that it is not available for the whole world to see as you have complete control over who has access.  It also means that you can over share too, safe in the knowledge that you are not going to bore everyone in your social media accounts with endless photos of your precious children.

Once you have set up your account either on-line or through the app, you set up a profile for each of your children and there is then a page for each of them with a time line of photos. This is an example of R’s page.

It tells you at the top how old each child is and then shows all of the photos that they have been tagged in (which is easy to do each time you upload a photo).

The general News Feed will show you all of the photos and videos in order and will say who was tagged in the photo and exactly how old they were when the photo was taken.  There is also a My Family page which gives you all of the photos to scroll through and you can also opt to save each photo into a collection; for example I have a Summer 2013 collection so that I can keep groups of photos taken this summer together.

Is it easy to set up?  I started out by downloading the app onto my phone and one evening when I was putting A to bed, I sat and filled in the information about the children and chose photos for their profiles and then it did take a while to go back and upload all the photos I wanted to use, but it didn’t take me long and once you are set up, you simply add in the photos as you go along and it takes a few seconds.  If you use the phone app, it also sends you reminders too so that you remember to go in and upload any recent photos or videos.

I love this idea as I think it will be lovely to look back on in years to come and as it is on my phone, I know that I will enjoy scrolling through the photos when I have five minutes. It would also be amazing to start using this if your child was a baby as you really could record lots of information on the app as well as the photos.

As I said before, 23snaps is completely free to use and to download the app but you are now able to order photo books and prints from the site too.  This is made really easy for you as you simply click on the tab at the top (at the moment this is only possible on the computer and not through the app), click to create your photo book and then you can easily and quickly select the photos that you want to use from those that have already been uploaded.

Prices start from around £15 and for that you get a beautiful 8 inch square hard-cover album with a matte cover and glossy pages and a simple layout that really focusses on the photos.  You can design your book with between 24 and 200 pages and the shipping is worldwide and takes 2-3 weeks.  The shipping was the only negative for me as I was keen to get my book and see how it had turned out but it did take three weeks to arrive.

I am really thrilled with the end product.  As there is no option to add text, the building of your photo book is really easy and you simply decide which photo goes on the front cover.  The quality is amazing and as there is only one photo on each page, it makes it a really lovely way to showcase your favourite photos.  I am reluctantly going to give mine away as it is my mother in law’s birthday soon and I know that she will absolutely love this book.

Having set up my 23snaps app and account, I am definitely going to carry on using it as it is so easy to use and as I said before a really lovely way to keep all of your memories in one place.   I haven’t yet invited friends or families to take a look at the site, but I will do as particularly for family who live in Wales, it will be nice for them to check in and see how the children are doing.  If you would like to find out more, take a look at the 23snaps website.
