The Best Back To School Breakfasts

September 13, 2013 in Family Life
One thing I have always made sure of with my children is that they have a decent breakfast inside them, whether it is a school day or not.  After ten to twelve hours sleep, your body needs food and drink to function properly and there is no doubt that a child who doesn’t have breakfast before they go to school, will have problems concentrating during lessons and it can also affect behaviour.
I have been really shocked recently by the amount of sugar that you find in so many of the cereals for children and even some that I thought were ‘healthier’ still contain a lot more sugar than I would like.  So what should you give them instead?

I must confess I am rubbish at eating breakfast myself but I know that the boy really needs his. He wakes up starving! I am trying to encourage porridge but has not been too successful so far. He is a huge Weetabix fan though,

We are definitely a breakfast family. In fact it’s only my husband who may go without. If I just need to concentrate on me having lunch now.
It’s amazing how the chocolatey/honey cereals can have such an effect on my youngest too.
