Chocolate Cupcakes with Cadbury Heroes Recipe

November 28, 2013 in Recipes
I was never a huge fan of chocolates until Cadbury brought out Heroes and they are my favourite as I can quite happily eat them all.  Not one will get left behind.  There is a hierarchy of course and the fudges are usually the last ones in the box, but I will eventually eat them all.
This time of year is the perfect time to buy Heroes as they are in plentiful supply and often on offer, so I thought I would grab a box and see how they worked on top of a chocolate cup cake. Well I can tell you, it works very, very well.
Ingredients
For the cakes
200g self raising flour
25g cocoa powder
4 eggs
225g caster sugar
225g softened butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking powder
For the chocolate fudge icing
45g cocoa powder
150g icing sugar
45g softened butter
3tbsp milk
A variety of Cadbury Heroes to place on the top
Method
Preheat the oven to 180c and place your cupcake cases into the muffin tray.
Sift the dry ingredients into a large bowl and mix well.   Add all of the other ingredients and mix well.
Divide the mixture equally between the muffin cases so that they are all three quarter full.
Bake for 20 – 25 minutes until risen and firm to the touch.
Sift the icing sugar and cocoa powder into a smaller bowl and add the softened butter with a small amount of the milk.  Add more milk until you have the right consistency.
Once the cakes have cooled, spoon or pipe the icing onto the top of each cake and pop a Heroes chocolate on the top.
Enjoy
