Every Friday I get a Follow Friday tweet from the lovely Fiona at Coombe Mill reminding me that the following day is the fabulous Country Kids linky and every week for what feels like months and months, I hang my head in shame as I realise that another week has passed and we have spent the majority of it indoors.
Although we haven’t had the coldest winter, it has been a very soggy one and along with the range of bugs that the children have picked up, we seem to have been cooped up inside apart from the school runs and football matches. It has been a bit like being in hibernation.
This week however has seen a big improvement in the weather and this weekend, I was determined that we were going to go out as a family and have some fun in the sun. And we did. We went to the park in Cheltenham as it is a lovely park and only about twenty minutes from our house. The children love it as not only is it a great park in really beautiful surroundings, there are some small animals and birds to see and most importantly a large field where the boys in particular can play football to their hearts content.
It was lovely to see the children enjoying the sunshine and being outdoors and we all got a lot of exercise from running around and it was a valuable reminder that you don’t have to spend any money at all to make children happy; my lot are happy with some space, a football and some time with their mum and dad.
I am definitely hoping that now Spring has arrived, we will be doing a lot more of this and hope that we get plenty of sunshine as it certainly makes us all feel a lot better and if you are ever in Cheltenham, I recommend the park as it is a really lovely one.

Lots of lovely, happy photos. I do hope the warmer weather is here to stay now, and we can all keep getting out there 🙂

Yes that’s true and my kids are so much happier if they can get outside too
Lovely to have you back, after all the miserable weather it’s not wonder people have felt like hibernating. Park, sunshine and family all make for a great recipe for fun, and as you said it’s free! Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.

Lovely photos! I can so relate to the Country Kids guilt! To be fair, my kids are out playing football and rugby every weekend, but I never blog about it. Hope we can get out for some nice walks as a family soon.
