I may have mentioned once or twice that I have a complete aversion to shoe shopping with my children. In fact, I am not a huge fan of shoe shopping at all, even for myself, but if it involves all three of my youngest children, it really is one of those experiences that make me a Stressy Mummy. Of course, at some point there is always an en masse trip to be measured, this is really important as children’s feet grow so quickly and children absolutely have to have shoes that fit properly as it can affect their feet if they don’t. That bit isn’t too painful as the children quite like taking their shoes off and being measured. After that it all goes horribly wrong, with me trying to chase three shoeless children around a busy shop whilst trying to find shoes and trainers that are the right size at the same time.
As R is moving up to middle school in September, he has suddenly started to take more of an interest in clothes and what he wears and he has started to talk about different brand names and styles that he likes. I had visions of shoe shopping with him being particularly challenging this summer but then I was introduced the Jake Shoes. Based in Manchester, Jake Shoes is an independently owned and family run business and they have a fantastic range of shoes for the whole family and they stock all the big names along with smaller brands too.
Jake Shoes have a brilliant range of school shoes and I was very tempted by the Lelli Kelly shoes for A which are so cute and I know she would love them. For boys, there are school shoes from Kickers, Dr Martens, Timberland, Geox and Vans to name but a few. I knew that R would have been happy with any of those and so chose a pair of Kickers Kicklo Lace Up shoes (velcro is for babies apparently). With free delivery which they aim to despatch the same day, I was really impressed how quickly the shoes arrived.
These are some seriously smart shoes and R loves them. They fit really well and they are fantastic quality. I do like school shoes to be solid and well made as experience has shown me that boys in particular are very hard on their school shoes.
