I have been doing this parenting thing for a while now (nearly 21 years to be exact) and over those years, I have certainly seen a fair few toys pass through the house. Some good, some not so good but there are some that were absolute winners which both the children and I loved. One of them was a book that opened out to make a farmhouse and there were lots of characters that you could use on the farm. I’m sure my eldest son would now deny all knowledge of it but we played with that for hours and hours. When I received the Fuzzikins Craft Cottontail Cottage, it reminded me of that farm straight away as it is a similar idea but even better.
This is our second Fuzzikins Craft review and we absolutely love these products. From Interplay, Cottontail Cottage is a clever 3D pop-up cottage which can be used for craft and play. Fuzzikins are really cute flocked animals and in this set, you have two little rabbit Fuzzikins and the pop-up house is their home. The set comes with the 3D pop-up house, two Fuzzikins, pens to decorate both the Fuzzikins and the accessories, fences and two sheets of colour in a cut out accessories for the house.
The one thing that my daughter particularly loves about Fuzzikins is that you can actually colour them in. They are white and you can add colour using the pens included and according to my daughter, that makes them the best animals ever. Currently, our bunnies are white as my daughter is still deciding how to design them. You also have some cardboard bunnies that you can cut out and use to practice your design which is really handy.
The house itself pops up into two main rooms but each room has a small upstairs part, so technically four rooms and the front and back cover can be used to create a garden using the fencing. As the book opens up, some of the furniture pops up too so there are a table and cooker in the kitchen, steps going up to the bedroom and a bunk bed upstairs. In the living room there is a chair and a pop-up wigwam and upstairs in the bathroom, there is a sink and a bath. The bath is my daughter’s favourite feature.
In addition to the pop-up furniture, there are other accessories that you can colour in, cut out and use in the cottage and you could get even more creative and have a go at making some more furniture of your own.
We love the Fuzzikins Craft sets and this one has been a real success with my daughter. She thinks that the characters are adorable and she loves playing with them in the cottage. Having the accessories and characters to colour in, this makes the set even more fun because children can design however they want so this is a great toy for both imaginative and creative play. You can of course, also add in other Fuzzikins characters from other sets if you want and the thing I also love about it is that once your child has finished playing with it, you can fold it flat and it is easy to store away. We keep ours on the bookshelf so that my daughter can easily grab it again when she wants it.
