Fidget cubes came and went and were quickly abandoned when the fidget spinners came along as the latest ‘must-have’ thing. Again, they were soon abandoned. I think that the problem with them is that they are quite limited, there is only one thing to do with them.
Something new was needed. Something that would satisfy the need to fidget and fiddle. Something that with time and practise, might get more interesting.
Enter the MOKURU fidget toy.
MOKURU is the latest craze in Japan. I must admit when it arrived, it did look at it and wonder how it could possibly be a fidget toy. Then I watched a video of someone playing it. Then I tried it and I was completely hooked. Once I showed the children, they were hooked too.
This very clever little fidget toy is a very simple design made from beech wood and it comes in a range of colours. It was originally designed to test and individual’s balance and focus but now it is being flipped, flicked and spun.
Because of the clever design, you flip the MOKURU over and it flips over and over. My daughter described it as a “somersaulting fidget toy.” It is quite simple to flip and you can flip along any smooth surface.
Once you have fully mastered to flip, you can start to learn tricks. You can flip from finger to finger and learn to control the MOKURU. Once that is under your belt you can try moving the MOKURU in different directions or even use more than one at the same time. MOKURU masters can move five MOKURU at once with one hand and it looks so impressive.
It is very simple but so effective fidget toy. A fidget toy that can do tricks. A fidget toy that helps improve concentration, focus, imagination and relieves stress.
All three of my children love it. It currently lives on the kitchen table as it is the perfect surface and whenever one of them sits down, it isn’t long before they are flipping away. It is quietly very addictive and then you discover new tricks to do with it and it becomes even more interesting. This fidget toy will definitely be a big hit with the tweens and teens.
The MOKURU is small and lightweight enough to fit in your pocket or bag so you can play with it anywhere.
MOKURU is already a huge hit in other countries, it is being launched in the UK today. Available in black or, as the Japanese say, Genbu, green (Matcha), orange (Kirin), white (Byakko), red (Suzaku), blue (Seiryu) and yellow (Inazuma), these amazing toys will be available from SMYTHS Toys and Amazon. Visit the MOKURU website for more information and beware the poor imitations available.
I was sent a MOKURU fidget toy for the purpose of this post. All images and opinion are my own.
