We are a family who needs a really good printer. I use a printer daily with my work as a French tutor and I also print off recipes, interesting articles, school letters, documents and photos, the list goes on. The children also use the printer a lot with homework and other things that they create or need from the computer. We need a printer that is reliable, easy to use and set up and one that doesn’t cost a small fortune to run.
My history with printers is a very sorry tale indeed with lots of sad, broken printers left along the wayside. I often seemed to get it so wrong every time I bought one and they either seemed to cost an absolute fortune to run, they developed connection problems or they just didn’t print very well at all and I have to admit that a couple of years ago, I admitted defeat. I wondered if a good printer really existed. Then I discovered the EcoTank printers and everything changed.
We have had an Epson EcoTank printer for over two years now and I can honestly say that it is the best printer we have ever had. Easy to set up, easy to use and cost effective which is everything you need from a printer and more.
A few weeks ago, I was moving things around in our study and I dropped our printer and snapped the paper feeder off and I was genuinely gutted. It did still work, but it wasn’t quite the same. So when I was offered the chance to review a new and improved model, the EcoTank ET-2750, I literally jumped at the chance as I knew I would love it and I do.
The Epson EcoTank printers are something quite new and exciting. I can honestly say that the ET-2750 was ridiculously easy to set up. You need to fill the ink tanks first and then plug in and switch it on. The information screen at the front of the printer takes you through the setup process step by step. There is a 10-minute wait while the printer charges and even connecting to WiFi was easy. Within 20 minutes, I was printing.
Instead of ink cartridges, the EcoTank ET-2750 has a refillable tank which offers a much more convenient and economical printing solution that would be suitable for homes and offices. The ink comes in four bottles (black, blue, pink and yellow) and you simply take the top off each ink tank and refill. It couldn’t be simpler and it doesn’t even make a mess. The black ink bottle is bigger as most people use more black ink and with the EcoTank ET-2750, you also get an additional bottle of black ink, so I am confident that the ink that comes with the printer will last for a long time. The tanks themselves are tucked away and so you don’t have to worry about little fingers getting to them.
In terms of replacing the ink, the claim is that the ink included with the ET-2750 is that it will last you for three years. If you are an average user of your printer, that may well be the case. My previous EcoTank printer had four bottles of ink (one of each colour) and in two years, I have only had to buy one set of ink bottles. But we are heavy users, so I know that we use more ink than an average user. It has certainly been more cost effective than any other printer I have had. It is also environmentally friendly as you don’t have to dispose of ink cartridges.
The EcoTank ET-2750 is not only a printer but also a copier and a scanner. It is quite a large printer, the dimensions are 375 x 347 x 187mm but it looks really sleek and I like the control panel as there is a good sized LCD screen which is clear and easy to use.
Since setting up the ET-2750, I have used it daily. The children have used it to print off homework and the and I have used it to print out lots of teaching resources. It is quick and quiet and the quality of the print is excellent. Quite honestly, it is brilliant. You switch it on and it prints quickly and efficiently and it has been so smooth and faultless. As we are a family of Apple users too, you can use Apple Air Print to print quickly and directly from the Apple devices which is very handy. There is also an Epson iPrint app which can send documents and photos directly to any email-enabled Epson printer wherever you happen to be.
So far, we have only used the Epson EcoTank ET-2750 as a printer but I know that the scanner and copier will come in handy too when the time comes and it all looks very straightforward.
The RRP of the Epson EcoTank ET-2750 £350 (although you can find it cheaper if you shop around) which is a huge investment for a printer. It comes with ink already and the replacement ink bottles cost £13.99 for the black and £7.99 for the other colours. I had never paid more than about £100 for a printer before, but having used this printer, I can see where I was going wrong. It is a quality printer and so much easier to use and reliable and you also have to weigh up how much you would spend on not only replacement ink cartridges, but also replacement printers over the two to three years, in comparison to buying the printer and ink. Personally, having used the Epson EcoTank printers, I would spend the money, it is worth it for the peace of mind that you have something so reliable
I love the Epson EcoTank ET-2750. It is the perfect family printer for us, we do rely on our printer and use it regularly and being able to find one that works for us is amazing. Having had so many problems in the past with printers, I would definitely recommend this printer.
