Top Tips for Caring for Your Body After Birth

May 8, 2020 in Living

Pregnancy drastically changes and alters the body, and it’s no wonder. The process of creating another human is exhausting and miraculous, but it does not come without risks. There are many health complications that could lead to pain, injury, or even death. Thankfully, with the advancement of modern medicine, you can be as comfortable as possible. Similarly, complications can arise in mothers after birth, which is why caring for your body is paramount:

Have the Right Tools to Keep You Comfortable

While your body heals, there are a few things you can do to make your recovery more comfortable. If there have been tears during pregnancy, getting medical creams and pain medication, as well as tools like special pillows, can go a long way. If your pregnancy has weakened your pelvic floor and caused an over-active bladder, then having disposable adult wipes in your purse and either pads or adult diapers can help you stay dignified and comfortable when you are out and about. There is no use denying that your body needs to heal, and by catering to your comfort you can ensure you give yourself the time you need.

For maximum coverage and protection, consider wearing something over pads or adult diapers. A waterproof pair of plastic pants are a convenient solution for overall incontinence protection. Any leaks or moisture will be contained within, and that will give you the peace of mind to take care of your business as soon as you can with no worries.

Have Plenty of Help

You need help caring for your new-born. If you are a first-timemum you not only need help, but you need to learn along the way. It is for this reason that you need toinvite your loved ones over. You cannot be a super mumand do it all yourself. Have your mother take care of your baby while you go to your postpartum appointments. Have your partner watch the baby while you take a long bath to ease the post-birth pains. You are recovering yourself, and you need the time and support to heal.

Go to Every Post Natal Appointment

Though rare, complications can arise after birth that could lead to seriousconditions and even death. That is why going to your post-birth doctor’s visits is so important. Not only can they monitor your health and healing progress, but butthey can also help by prescribing medication and healing ointments to helpspeed up the process. Remember to be honest with how you feel, and to becommitted to your post-birth recovery.

Eat Healthy and Be Active

Eating healthy when you are recovering can be difficultbecause you likely won’t have the time or energy to make complicated, healthy meals for yourself. That is again where your loved ones come into play. It takes a village to raise a child, and the moreyour family and friends are involved, the better. Once you start to recover, start exercising. It can be easy to get a small exercise routine in when your baby is sleeping, and doingso can help you be fit, healthy, and moreenergisedevery day.

There are so many steps to take when you are recovering after giving birth, but themost importantthing to remember is to give yourselftime. Your body has been through quite an ordeal over these last nine to ten months, and now it is timeto heal.
