It is all about dolls and fashion for my daughter at the moment. She has been learning to knit and sew with her grandmother over the last few months and has suddenly taken a real interest in fashion and style. If she isn’t playing with fashion dolls, she can often be found with a pencil and notebook sketching outfit ideas.
When the Boxy Girls arrived to review, she was jumping around with excitement as these are perfect for a little girl who loves fashion and collectables.
What are Boxy Girls?
They are a brand new fashion doll brand. Super cute and so very stylish, each of these little fashionista dolls arrives with four specially designed boxes, hence the name. Inside each box is a surprise fashion accessory and being able to unbox each accessory makes them very exciting. The idea behind Boxy Girls is that they are girls who love to shop online and collecting clothes, shoes, makeup and accessories.
Each box contains one accessory or a pair of shoes and the boxes are really detailed from the barcode on the outside to the themed interior which matches your Boxy Girl’s style. Each box also includes a really cute sticker. Although the boxes do create quite a lot of packaging, they are well-made and you can either reuse them to store your Boxy Girl’s accessories or pop them into the recycling along with the tissue paper that wraps the surprises.
There are four Boxy Girl dolls to collect (RRP £17.99) and each doll comes in a stylish outfit and four boxed accessories. You can also buy Boxy Girls Fashion Packs (RRP£9.99) which is a set of 6 secret boxes with a host of surprise luxury fashion items such as clothes, makeup, shoes or accessories.
Boxy Girls are really appealing from their funky outfits to the design of the packaging (the insert of the box is so pretty that my daughter refuses to throw them away and is using them as part of her play.) The dolls are just over 8 inches tall, so the perfect height for playing and fully portable too. The dolls are collectable and of course, you can swap outfits and accessories around for hours of fun fashion play. The dolls themselves are also really cute and you can play with their hair as well as change their clothes, which my daughter really likes.
Once you have unboxed with the Boxy Girls, you can pop over to YouTube where each of the four dolls has their own channel and each doll has their own animated unboxing video where they unbox and talk about their new clothes and accessories. My daughter has just discovered the joys of unboxing videos on YouTube, so this really appealed to her and she hopes that more videos will follow.
Kids can also join Club Boxy Girls for Boxy Girls News and monthly updates and enter competitions.
My daughter is smitten with her Season 1 Boxy Dolls and is already talking excitedly about Season 2 which is coming soon and means she will be able to add more dolls and accessories to her collection. She has always loved collectable toys and the wide range of clothes and accessories add to the excitement of collecting more Boxy Girl sets. We also have some plans to create our own outfits for our two dolls, which is really exciting and I love that they have inspired my daughter to get creative too.
I think that the Boxy Girls are lovely sets and a good price for all of the bits that are included. The dolls are well-made and really appealing and the unboxing idea is really clever. The main boxes are really easy to open but my only small complaint would be that the small boxes are sealed quite tightly and are quite hard to open which is frustrating when you have a small person who is desperate to get inside.
Boxy Girls are suitable for children aged 6 and over and are available from Smyths Toys and all good toy shops nationwide.
