Yes, spring is here. That means the first rays of sunshine and the start of outdoor activities. The kids are bound to be excited about the Easter holidays, but that doesn’t mean you have to spend big.
If you’re trying to save money whilst keeping the family entertained, springtime is a great opportunity to entertain the kids with some low-cost activities:
- Visit a botanical garden or stately home: a cheap (sometimes free) day out with plenty to see and learn about.
- Visit a local farm: spring is an amazing time to visit your local farm and see the baby animals. Kids will love the calves, lambs and baby chicks.
- Make a birdfeeder: a really fun spring idea to keep the kids entertained, and easier than you think to carry out.
- Go on an Easter egg treasure hunt: Make one yourself or go on an organised hunt near you. Another great day for the whole family.

Each month offers its own set of bargains, and April is no different. Here are a few items that you should be grabbing:
- Vacuum cleaners: new models will be coming out in the summer, so look out for cut prices on older models, not to mention any promotional ‘spring cleaning’ deals.
- Vintage clothing: if you’re a fan of second-hand bargain hunting, April’s a great time to hit the vintage shops. Many people will have just had a spring clear out, and one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
- Spring fashion: summer fashion lines will be hitting the shops this month, so look for big discounts on outgoing spring lines.

Continuing the theme, April is a great time to snag a bargain trip away. Whether that’s a cheap getaway this month (outside of the Easter holidays) or booking a great value trip for the summer, now is the time to be looking at your next holiday.
April is widely regarded as a great time to book a cruise, but flights will be super cheap as well. Going away this month also means you’re likely to catch some good weather and get your summer fix early, just without the summer price.
Only a couple of months away from summertime, spending a little now means you could potentially save a lot in the summer. Of course, staying on top of your finances is always a challenge, but working through monthly deals can go a long way to helping you keep some money in the bank.
