It has the food, the culture and the weather alongside a highly navigable transport system and attractions that are out of this world for grown ups and children alike.
Head over to the fun island that is Sentoas, a short stroll across the boardwalk and you’ll find an aquarium, miles of beach, a free pirate ship water park, Universal Studios and plenty of bars and restaurants.
Try eating with the locals at the various hawker centres dotted around the island. Feed a family for $20 Singaporean dollars and get some of the tastiest food on the planet. Even tiny tummies will be keen to try out the chicken and rice but many hawker centres do also have one or two foreign food stands too.
Once you’re in Singapore you’re at one of the busiest hubs in the region. Making the Lion City your base, hop on flights to Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Hong Kong. You’ll be just a few hours away from so many other great destinations you may want to schedule some time away once you’re over the jetlag.
Getting there
Flying with small children isn’t easy but there are ways of making it easier. Babies and older children have their challenges but it’s the toddler years that often pose the most problems and make you wonder why you didn’t follow through with that idea of trying out Bolsover River Cruises instead.
