Different Approaches to Weight Loss That Could Work for You

July 15, 2020 in Living

For many of us, losing weight is a key goal in our lives. Of course, it’s extremely important that you are comfortable with your own body and that you are only losing weight for the right reasons if you do decide to shed some pounds. If you are overweight or obese and are looking to lose weight for the sake of your health and wellbeing, this is great. If you are not, you do not need to lose weight. If you are larger and happy with yourself, you may not need to either. For those who are looking to lose weight, there are countless different methods out there. So, it’s important to know which approaches are safe and could be appropriate for you as an individual! Here are a few suggestions that you might like to take into consideration.

Different Approaches to Weight Loss That Could Work for You

Calories

Health institutions have set recommended daily calorie intakes for the average child, the average man and the average woman to maintain a healthy weight. Here are some suggestions:

    • Children aged 2 to 8 – 1000 to 1400 calories
    • Girls aged 9 to 13 – 1400 to 1600 calories
    • Boys aged 9 to 13 – 1600 to 2000 calories
    • Active women aged 14 to 30 – 2400 calories

  • Sedentary women aged 14 to 30 – 1800 to 2000 calories
  • Active men aged 14 to 30 – 2800 to 3200 calories
  • Sedentary men aged 14 to 30 – 2000 to 2600 calories

  • Active adults over 30 – 2000 to 3000 calories
  • Sedentary adults over 30 – 1600 to 2400 calories

Of course, it’s best to check in with your doctor to see how many calories per day they’d recommend that you eat to lose weight. These counts could be fine. But they could vary for different individuals and you may find yourself tapering your calorie count down to these levels more slowly rather than all at once.

Diets

There are countless diets out there. Some are fads and not effective. Some are sustainable and more effective. If you’re interested in these types of diets, heres a site to get started. Again, it’s recommended that you visit your doctor before implementing any new diet to get their recommendations on plans you’re interested in and to ensure the plan is safe for you in particular.

Exercise

Remember, losing weight and being healthy is about more than your diet alone. You’ll need to exercise too in order to experience success! It’s generally recommended that the average adult gets one hundred and fifty minutes of moderate aerobic exercise every week, or seventy five minutes of vigorous aerobic exercise every week. Fit this into your routine. Whether you head to the gym, use a personal trainer, attend classes or get involved with group sports. There’s bound to be an option that suits or interests you!

These, of course, are just some of the basics. But they could make all the difference when it comes to spurring your weight loss journey along. Hopefully, at least one of the options will help to guide you in the right direction!
