Feeling more confident after having kids

February 10, 2022 in Parenting

Having children is an amazing journey, but it can really wreak havoc on your body and identity as a woman. Lots of new mothers feel like they need to give up everything that once made them happy to bring up their kids, but that’s just not true. Whether you’re struggling with your appearance or simply haven’t been as happy as usual, this blog can help you to regain your confidence. What’s more, none of the pointers in the following list have to detract from the time you spend with your kids. You’ll still be the best mum and feel a little bit more like your own person too.

Consider a labiaplasty

If childbirth left your body feeling unfamiliar to you, then you could think about getting a labiaplasty in London by Cadogan Clinic. While it might not seem like something essential to your life, it’s really important to focus on your wants and needs after having children. You have every right to want your body to look a certain way and you shouldn’t feel guilty about that. Mums can be beautiful too, so empower yourself and book a consultation to find out more.

Rediscover makeup

Lots of new mums struggle to spend time on their appearance and often give up after a few months of packed schedules. But if you used to love wearing makeup, its absence can negatively impact the way you feel about yourself when you look in the mirror. While you’re beautiful the way you are, it’s important to express yourself through your appearance even once you’ve had children. You don’t need to wear a full face each day, but wearing a tinted lip balm or applying some concealer over your dark circles can help you feel much better equipped to take on the day.

Spend time on your hobbies

There’s not always a lot of room in your day to spend time on things that you really enjoy doing, but it’s important to still work on hobbies that don’t involve your kids. Whether you have half an hour to read before bed or ten minutes to do yoga in the morning, taking these little pockets of time and using them to really make yourself happy can do wonders for your confidence. And if you love cycling or swimming, get the kids involved and have fun as a family.

Practice gratitude

All new mums love their kids, but it can be hard to feel grateful when you’ve had very little sleep and are spending all your spare cash on baby clothes and powdered milk. Starting a gratitude journal can help you to remember all the good things in your life. This could mean writing down all the little things that make your kids so adorable or even simply recognising that your indulgent breakfast brought you a lot of joy at the weekend. Actively practising gratitude has been proven to lift people’s moods and when you start to realise how many things you’ve accomplished, you’ll feel ready to tackle any challenge.
