The Great British Weather

April 4, 2013 in Life

We are all talking about it at the moment I know. Everywhere I go I hear people moaning about it. Even on television it is a very popular topic of conversation; why it is happening, it it a record, how is it affecting the economy. The Great British weather, love it or hate it it is definitely something we have to live with unless we have the means to move somewhere a little warmer.

Personally, I am just ever so fed up with it. Take this week for example; the first week of the Easter holidays and it has become progressively colder as the week has gone on. We have lots of activities planned, mostly outside and it is bitterly cold and damp. It makes us all miserable as we shiver around getting so cold any skin that isn’t covered is bright red. Not fun.

Poor little A, we have wrapped her up in layers of clothes, coats, gloves and scarves so much so it is a wonder she can move and still she is showing signs of getting chest problems from all of the cold. We all have colds. Again. Night times are hilarious with a cacophony of snoring all around the house.

Looking back at photos from last year, by now I had taken quite a few outdoor photos either out and about or in the garden. No such luck this year, our garden has been abandoned until such time we can go out without catching our death or sinking in the mud bath.

Yes I know I should probably just wrap the children up and get on with it, which is what we have tried to do this week, but it isn’t much fun. I just want it to warm up a bit. I’m not greedy, I don’t want tropical temperatures (although that would be lovely) just to be able to go outside with the children without snow, icy winds or cold rain. That’s not much to ask is it?

I feel the same. I am sick of this weather now. I hate being cold but in the winter I can kind of cope with it as it’s meant to be cold but April is just wrong. In fact as type this I look out the window and see it’s snowing!?! This is so not what the Easter holidays are meant to be about.

I agree I don’t mind it being a bit chilly but snow?? It is crazy!

  • I really feel for you! Ive been seeing lots of photos on Facebook and just can’t believe that it’s snowing in April! Happy to be in Oz – people here are complaining its cold because it dropped under 20 degrees!

This made me smile as my OH is obsessed with the idea of moving to Australia! If I was more enthusiastic I think we would be there.

I am so with you! It’s even colder today than it was earlier in the week. We are getting out, but it’s no fun when the wind takes your breath away. We certainly shouldn’t be concerning ourselves with hats and gloves all the time. Would be nice to think it would suddenly magically warm up and be a hot summer, but we all know that isn’t going to happen!

The only thing that’s keeping me going is the belief that this cold spring will bring the most fabulous, fantastic, hot, gorgeous summer! Fingers crossed!
