Looking on the bright side

June 6, 2013 in Family, Family Life

The boys were chatting in the car today about someone in their school whose behaviour had taken a turn for the worst. The child in question’s parents have recently split up which the boys know about and I pointed out to them that maybe they should be a little bit more sympathetic as it is a tough time for kids when parents split up.

This was the conversation that followed;
L: If mum and dad split up I’m so going to live with dad.
R: Really? I’m not sure who I would live with.  We would get more presents though.
L: Why’s that?
R: Well think about it, we would get a big present from mum and dad as opposed to one from both of them.
L: I suppose.  But who would you live with?
R: Mum, definitely mum!
L: (with utter disdain ) Why on earth would you live with mum?
R:  I couldn’t live without her cookies!
Whilst I am very lucky that my husband and I are happily married, this little conversation did make me smile and now I’m off to bake a few more cookies.
