It has been a while since I have looked at puzzles for the children. A has a puzzle collection that she has inherited from her brothers with a few of her own added in. Like her brothers, she enjoys puzzles and will happily sit and work out where each piece goes. I try in vain, as I did with her brothers, to impart my advice about starting with the edges first, but she ignores me and carries on regardless. Even though the boys are older, they still enjoy a puzzle. R in particular, loves a challenge and if a puzzle is challenging enough, he will sit there until it is done.
Puzzles are amazing. They are great for children and adults as they provide a good workout for your brain as you work out strategies to put the pieces together, thinking creatively and logically. For children, there are endless benefits from doing puzzles; improving both fine and gross motor skills, helping to encourage patience and problem-solving, improving memory, shape recognition and hand-eye co-ordination all with the reward of creating a wonderful picture at the end.
Wentworth Wooden Puzzles really do have a stunning range of puzzles. Whether you are looking for a puzzle for an adult or a child, there are puzzles of different shapes, sizes and challenge level all made and presented beautifully with the most beautiful illustrations and designs.
Wentworth Wooden Puzzles are truly unique, cut with laser precision, the pieces are all irregular, making the puzzles more of a challenge and in many of their puzzles, there will be a number of ‘whimsy pieces’ which are pieces cut out in the shape of something specific. For example, in the Fairy Alphabet Letter, there are a number of pieces shaped like fairies, teddies, animals and dolls. In the Rugby Mishmash puzzle, there are pieces shaped like rugby balls and players. This is such a lovely idea and it really does make these puzzles even more special.
I was keen to see the Wentworth Wooden Puzzles for myself and I wasn’t disappointed. I chose the Fairy Alphabet Letter for my daughter as I knew that this would appeal to her, you can choose any letter of the alphabet and it is beautiful depicted with fairies and flowers with lots of ‘whimsy pieces’ too. This puzzle is also available in a dinosaur design and this would make a beautiful present for any child who will love having a puzzle in the shape of their initial.
For the boys, it had to be a sporting theme and the Rugby Mishmash – The History of Rugby Union in One Jigsaw Puzzle, looked perfect as it is their favourite sport at the moment and the puzzle looked quite a challenge too. Available in different sizes, this clever jigsaw puzzle features over 300 incidents and 750 characters from the history of rugby union which is perfect for any fan of the game.
Both puzzles are absolutely wonderful and I am thrilled with them. Amazing quality, nicely presented and offering a unique experience, I am looking forward to some quiet jigsaw time with the children over the next few days.
This year on November 3rd, it is all about jigsaw puzzles as for the first time there will be a day to celebrate the wonders of jigsaws on National Jigsaw Day. The idea is to take some time out from your day, switch off the screens and gadgets and immerse yourself in a puzzle. You can share pictures of your family or yourself, enjoying jigsaws on social media with #NationalJigsawDay. Wentworth Wooden Puzzles (@Wentworthpuzzle) are hosting a #NationalJigsawDay Twitter party from 1-2pm (UK Time) on Twitter, so get involved with the chat. You can find our more here.
