Last week I blogged about our living without a sofa for three months. Not the end of the world I know, but I can honestly say that at my age (ahem 40 something), sitting on beanbags is not for me. The children have had to pull me up most days and although my daughter has quite enjoyed having lots of space in the living room to play and dance around in. But it did feel as though we had lost the heart of our house. The boys preferring to lounge on their beds and the parents wandering around trying to find somewhere to sit that didn’t make our backs hurt.
The sofa delivery was due on Friday and as we had had two unsuccessful deliveries I was quite nervous. I expect the delivery men were too. They had brought the original order and so they knew the problems we had had. Three storey houses are the bain of their lives apparently. They said they would rather go the top floor of a tower block.
The sofa company advised us that the recliner sofas would be perfect as, unlike most other sofas, they do come apart. The first sofa went up and I was so excited. Like the child that I really am, I ran up and threw myself on the sofa. It felt so good.
That was the smaller sofa, the larger one was still to go. No problem. They went up easily.
We are all so happy. I guess that sometimes you have to go without something to really appreciate it. We are all truly appreciating the sofas and the fact that they are recliners makes it even better. It is so nice to walk into the living room and find people there again, our house has its heart back.
So a happy ending to the sofa saga. I really do have to say how happy I have been with DFS and their customer service. The first order was my mistake and the second theirs, but at no point did they leave us in the lurch and they have been so helpful in getting us sofas as quickly as possible.
If you need me, I will be reclining on my new sofa …
