For my very first review of 2018, I present the Cool Maker Sew N’ Style Sewing Machine. My daughter has been using this for a couple of weeks and it is the perfect toy for her as she is a creative little soul who loves nothing more than making things.
She has developed a real interest in sewing this year. I am not what you would call a real sewer but my mum is. I can sew on buttons, sew up hems and mend clothes but that is as far as I go. My mum has always been a keen sewer and growing up, the dining table would often be covered with her sewing machine and various patterns and fabrics. I think it is an amazing skill and it is one she is encouraging my daughter to love too. Whenever she spends time at granny’s house, she always does some sewing or knitting and loves rummaging around in my mum’s sewing box.
So, I knew that she would absolutely love the Cool Maker Sew N’ Style Sewing Machine, it is a safe, easy to use sewing machine that is ideal for children to use. The machine comes with a pompom maker attachment and the fabric, threads and accessories to create five fun projects including a glitter drawstring pouch and a unicorn cushion. It even has a drawer to keep all of the smaller items safely tucked away.

4 x glitter tulle, 1 x stretch fabric, 1 x sheet of felt
4 x bundles of style string, 2 x bundles of satin ribbon
5 x pop-out patterns
1 x bag of stuffing
It is suitable for children aged six and over and at eight, my daughter needed some help and supervision, but once she understood how it worked, she was happy to use the machine by herself.
Her first project was the glitter pouch as she was immediately drawn to the glitter tuile. The instruction booklet does give you step by step instructions but we discovered that each project also has a YouTube video which was really helpful to guide you through your chosen project.
She really enjoyed making the pouch and was thrilled with the result. It even has a pompom attachment which she absolutely loved using and I know that she will use that over and over as she loves making pompoms.
Overall, the Cool Maker Sew N’ Style Sewing Machine has been a real success. For creative kids, it gives them the chance to use a machine that is safe and easy to thread and use and will give them the confidence to create things that they will love. All of the projects are really lovely and you can buy additional kits to use with the machine once you have completed all of the projects in the set. My daughter loves hers and is talking about having her own proper sewing machine when she is older and so maybe the sewing gene has skipped a generation and she will be just like her granny.
