It seems like a very long time coming this year, almost like six months or so, but finally we are nearly ready to go back to school. I am so ready for my not so little anymore darlings to don their school uniforms and go somewhere else to do their learning, that is for sure.
My daughter has some Hogwarts inspiration to help her get back to school with style this year. She, like so many children, is Harry Potter mad. She loved reading the books this year, she has avidly watched the films and slowly more and more Harry Potter things are appearing in her bedroom.
Luckily, there is plenty of stuff to choose from, whether you are looking for back to school essentials or after school fun time, there is so much to choose from. We were very lucky to be able to review lots of Harry Potter goodies which will certainly make it feel like she is going back to Hogwarts this week.
Back to School Essentials
Every wizard or witch needs to eat and this lunchbox and drinks bottle combo is one of the best I have seen for a while. Available to buy online from ASDA, I just love both of these with the Chibi style characters. I would happily take this to school with my lunch and drink in and for less than £10 for the two, you can rock your lunch in style at a great price.
And what about a bag to carry your books and wands in? ASDA also have that covered. They have a great range of Harry Potter school bags but my favourite are the Shield Logo Backpacks, there is one for each Hogwarts house. We have Gryffindor and it is a really great bag, a good size and really sturdy too. Currently the backpacks are priced at £14.
Finally, you can’t go back to school without any new stationery, that is the law (well it is in my world at least). This Harry Potter Stationery Pouch is perfect as it contains a pen, pencil, rubber, ruler and pencil sharpener all for less than £4. It also comes in a handy see-through plastic case to keep them in.
After School Play
Harry Potter Magical Capsules are great fun and perfect for collectors of all things Harry Potter. Each of the capsules is a bronze Hogwarts crest and contains one iconic character from the Harry Potter stories. There are ten different characters to collect in series one and each capsule has seven surprises hidden inside.
We reviewed the Harry Potter Magical Capsules a few weeks ago and my daughter really enjoyed unwrapping each surprise which is a clue to the character you unwrap at the end. We have Ron Weasley and the figures are super cute with a wand, pet and accessories. Plus you can store them inside the capsule too.

The Harry Potter Lumos Wand is great fun. It is a 7 inch replica wand with a light up tip. It is perfect for pretending to be your favourite witch or wizard but if you download the free Wow! Stuff Wizarding app which allows you to use the wand to recreate battle scenes from the films or create stunning light pictures and capture them on your phone.

When it comes to LEGO, there are some fantastic sets from the wizarding world of Harry Potter, I should know as we already have some of them. My daughter loves LEGO and was thrilled to get the chance to build the LEGO Knight Bus. The set is suitable for children aged 8+ and is so brilliant when it is finished. There are various openings to the bus which enable you to place Harry, the driver, Stan and the attention to detail is brilliant.
The Knight Bus is available to buy here and the RRP is £34.99. It is a brilliant set and my daughter loved building it but also loves playing with it along with here other Harry Potter sets.
For more of a challenge the LEGO Harry Potter Hedwig is aimed at older builders (10+) and the end result is this amazing display model of Harry’s faithful owl. In her beak is an envelope and she sits on a display stand base where there is also a normal sized model of Harry Potter and Hedwig too. The attention to detail with this model is incredible and her wings actually move. This model is more challenging but will help develop problem solving skills.

Mattel have a fantastic range of Harry Potter dolls which are fully posable and complete with incredibly detailed outfits from the films. The Harry Potter Doll comes complete with Hogwart’s uniform including robes. It also includes a wand, glasses and the all-important scar.

Whether it is school time or play time. there are lots of amazing back to school options for all Harry Potter fans. And if that wasn’t enough already, you can also go online and visit the Wizarding World website which is an absolute must for all Harry Potter fans. There are quizzes, news, features, a shop, a fan club to join and you can even be sorted to see which Hogwarts house you would be put in. I was Gryffindor and very happy with that selection even though I am far too old to be going back to school.
